Former star and host of The Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe explained why she and her fiancé, former Bachelorette suitor Jason Tartick, are having such a hard time planning their wedding. Kaitlyn first appeared on Chris Soules' season of The Bachelor in 2015, and became the Bachelorette later that year. She got engaged to Shawn Booth on the show, but they broke up in November 2018. Meanwhile, Jason had been one of Becca Kufrin's final three contestants on her 2018 season of The Bachelorette.

Kaitlyn, 37, and Jason, 33, met in 2019 when he was a guest on her Off the Vine podcast and asked her out on a date. Kaitlyn said yes, and their fun and supportive relationship began. Jason was Kaitlyn's number one fan when she competed on and won Dancing With The Stars season 29 in November 2020. On May 11, 2021, Jason proposed to Kaitlyn when they were filming an episode of her podcast in Nashville, and she happily accepted. Kaitlyn and Jason were ready to plan their wedding and begin the next chapter of their lives together.

The couple had most recently announced that they were going to have a New Year's Eve wedding with a Great Gatsby theme, but, on the Us Weekly 'Here for the Right Reasons' podcast, Kaitlyn revealed that they are now struggling with their wedding plans. Bachelorette Fans have been speculating if their wedding will happen at all, but Kaitlyn seems sure that they will get married eventually. In regard to getting married on New Year's Eve, Kaitlyn said, "I really wanted to. I would still actually be happy to do it." Kaitlyn explained that choosing a venue has been difficult for the couple because they are so different. She said, "Jason and I are so funny. Like, if we talk about a venue — we actually have such different styles, different tastes, different everything that it’s almost frustrating. Because I’ll be like, 'I’m in love with this venue and it’s perfect and it’s open.' And he’ll be like, 'Oh, no, that’s no. That’s not the style we’re going for at all.'" Kaitlyn also shared that they have had trouble booking a venue because "everyone and their dogs are getting married right now making up for time from the pandemic." She said that whenever they both agree on a venue, it is booked until late next year.

In order to solve this problem, Kaitlyn suggested to Jason that maybe they could potentially have a "small, little intimate" event in their backyard, on the lake, or anywhere, and then have a big party at a venue later next year. She said that she is still into that idea because she did not know that finding a venue or picking a date would be this hard. However, Jason is not on board with the idea because he is "so set" on having a traditional wedding. Kaitlyn shared, "I’m so not traditional that I’m like, 'Why can’t we do the courthouse?’" Because I would." She said that she would elope, but "he's not down." Kaitlyn emphasized that she does not have a deadline for her wedding to Jason that would make waiting to get married a dealbreaker for her. She said that she will have to "enjoy a longer engagement" because it has been hard to plan the wedding.

Kaitlyn and Jason have been a fan-favorite Bachelor Nation couple for years now, and people cannot wait to see them wed. Perhaps they will make it official sooner than later, and then have the party months later since they both really do seem to want to get married. This seems like a fair compromise since the pandemic has disrupted their original plans. Whatever they decide, hopefully Kaitlyn and Jason will be married soon, and they can continue on with their happily ever after.

The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
