Disney's animated movies might have a few tragic bumps in the road for their main characters, but with fairy tales and legends the primary focus, they tend to be full of hope and happy endings. The 100, on the other hand, lives in tragedy. It's characters make more tough choices and have to justify horrible decisions than most television drama characters.

The characters do, however, still have to hold out hope for something better or they would just give up. That gives them quite a bit in common with animated Disney characters. Fans can easily draw parallels between The 100 and some iconic Disney faces.

Monty And Harper: Sleeping Beauty's Fairies

The 100 Monty And Harper Disney Fairies

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather are the glue that holds the Sleeping Beauty picture together. They give Aurora their all, spending over a decade of their lives taking care of her and keeping her safe. Everything the fairies do is for someone else.

Monty and Harper might not seem like magical fairies at the start of their time on The 100, but they are two of the people the rest of the main characters turn to in order to get things done. Monty becomes a go-to person for technology as well as farming. Harper is always willing to get her hands dirty - until they want to strive for peace. Then, the two protect the sleeping last bit of humanity while they spend decades living together on a spaceship traveling the stars. They spend their lives in space searching for a home so that their friends have a chance to live.

Echo: Jasmine

The 100 Echo Disney Jasmine

Echo might not be a princess, but she has a lot of Jasmine's traits. They're both survivors, more observant than their peers, and they know their way around castle walls.

Like Jasmine, Echo is good with a little sarcasm. She's also willing to use whatever weapon is at her disposal to help the people she cares about. For Echo that might mean a bow and arrow, but it also might mean spying. For Jasmine, that might mean convincing Jafar she cares about him when he disgusts her. The two are able to put on masks in order to achieve their goals, but they both have big hearts, willing to put themselves in danger to protect everyone else.

Miller: Sebastian

The 100 Miller Disney Sebastian

Miller doesn't often get the chance to carry a storyline in The 100. For seven seasons, he is the perfect sidekick, there to support each and every one of his friends when things get tough - and find love along the way. His support, of course, comes with plenty of grumbling, sarcasm, and lamenting that his friends can't get their acts together. That's why he's Disney sidekick Sebastian.

Sebastian might complain about Princess Ariel, but he'd do anything for her, and not just because her father's the king. That's pretty well in line with how Miller feels about Octavia after years at her side in the bunker. He knows they made bad decisions, but he's unflinchingly loyal to her and everything she did for their people.

Gaia: Moana

The 100 Gaia Disney Moana

Gaia is trained to be a warrior by her mother, but she chooses the spiritual path instead. That makes her someone who learns all she can about the history of her people and have immense faith in what she's taught.

Like Moana, Gaia has to leave her family behind to follow her heart. Also like Moana, she discovers that some of the things she learned about her people aren't necessarily true, and she has to find a way to reconcile them for herself. Gaia's journey takes her across the stars, not the ocean, but both young women are able to help their people and find their way back home.

Emori: Esmeralda

The 100 Emori Disney Esmeralda

In The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, the people in power see Esmeralda as an outcast; she's not someone like them. Esmeralda, however, never stops fighting for the people, leading the way with kindness, understanding, and a certain amount of toughness.

Like Esmeralda, Emori is cast out by society. She ends up as a grifter, but when she meets John Murphy, her world changes. Not only do they become the romantic couple to watch on the show, but, she grows into someone who never stops fighting for the less fortunate. She's a survivor, but she'd gladly sacrifice herself to make sure children, people with different beliefs, and people with genetic anomalies, get the chance to survive.

Murphy: Flynn Rider

The 100 Murphy Disney Flynn Rider

When Murphy begins his journey in The 100, he seems selfish. He thinks only of himself while stealing or conning people out of what he wants. The truth is, however, that Murphy has a big heart underneath that facade, which might sound familiar to Disney fans.

Flynn Rider makes his entrance in Tangled as a thief out to achieve his own dreams, but meeting Rapunzel makes him sing a different tune. Flynn falls for Rapunzel, hard, just as Murphy falls for Emori, and his point of view expands. Murphy and Flynn would both do anything for the people they care about.

Octavia: Ariel

The 100 Octavia Disney Ariel

Ariel might seem like too much of an optimist to be compared to Octavia, but that's how Octavia's story begins as well. The girl under the floor wants to know more about the world outside. She wants to be able to take risks and experience life in a way that she never has before when she first makes it to the ground.

It's not unlike Ariel's desire to experience the world on legs instead of with a tail. Ariel's experiences with Ursula and Eric make her see that she's naive to the ways of the world, just as Octavia grows into a warrior and a peacekeeper after her experiences on Earth.

Raven: Milo

The 100 Raven Disney Milo

Easily the most intelligent member of the 100, Raven Reyes and her brain save the day on a regular basis. Some fans might think her interest in learning would make her Beauty and the Beast's Belle, but Belle is more enamored with the fantasy of adventure, not the actual process of learning.

Instead, Raven is more like Milo Thatch on his journey to Atlantis. They both are just as fascinated by history as they are by technology. Raven can get lost in the process of learning new things, just as Milo can.

Bellamy: Aladdin

The 100 Bellamy Disney Aladdin

Much like Flynn Rider, Bellamy starts his journey as someone who seems selfish, but really has a heart. He also, however, has a lot in common with Aladdin.

Bellamy might not be a "street rat" when he debuts in The 100, but he definitely knows his way around illegal situations. He thinks on his feet and is able to keep up his lies for about as long as Prince Ali. Bellamy is also a lot smarter than most people give him credit for. Others tend to judge him at face value, just as they do when meeting Aladdin.

Clarke: Rapunzel

The 100 Clarke Disney Rapunzel

Ariel and Rapunzel are two characters who have a lot in common, which might be why Octavia and Clarke both rise to become leaders of the people, fighting for the interests of everyone. Like Rapunzel, Clarke's early life is confined to what is expected of her. Once she's let out of her "tower" of the Ark, Clarke is able to be her true self.

Both young women go on a long and strange journey chasing their dreams. Clarke's dreams are of a place for her people to find home, while Rapunzel just wants to learn where she comes from. They have slightly different paths, but they are both creative people who care deeply for those around them.
