Epic Games just announced Thanos's return in Season 7 of Fortnite, which will grant players the powers and vanity of The Mad Titan with a dedicated skin. Fortnite is no stranger to epic crossovers, and right now the game is rocking the biggest characters in pop culture history. Rick Sanchez and Clark Kent, AKA Superman, are available in-game, with unique skins and cosmetics to unlock. Thanos has joined the Fortnite party before, with his own dance moves and all, but players never got to unlock a permanent Thanos skin, and now they'll finally get the chance.
The Avengers: Endgame villain appeared in Fortnite just before his final act in the MCU, giving gamers the ability to utilize the infinity gauntlet for epic gameplay possibilities. Thanos’s massive crossover into the Fortnite Universe included a special Infinity War mode and Thanos himself appeared in-game to execute his master eliminate-half-of-the-universe plan. The game mode allowed players to access Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet, which, when picked up, turned the player into the Mad Titan himself, with vanity and unlimited power to boot. Increased stats, a deadly move set, and the chance to play as Thanos was enough to get players frantically searching the map for the Infinity Gauntlet, but the devs never gave players a permanent Thanos skin. That just changed with an official announcement that confirms that Thanos really is inevitable.

In spectacular Fortnite fashion, the game devs first posted a not-so-cryptic tweet that pays homage to Thanos and his sinister line in Avengers: Endgame. “He is inevitable…” the tweet reads, followed by six colored circles that likely represent the infinity stones. The tease was just a tease, until just over an hour later, Fortnite confirmed Thanos's return, and that players will be able to compete for a chance to win the Thanos Outfit and Infinity Gauntlet Back Bling inspired by the MCU's Avengers: Engage. The item will then release in the item shop.
Those who don't want to wait for the Thanos skin will need to brush up on their Fortnite skills. The Thanos Cup will give participants a chance to earn the skin before anyone else has a chance to wear it. The tournament begins on June 21 and players will need to bring a Duos Partner, and winners will get to play as Thanos before the skin officially unlocks to the public on June 26 at 8 p.m. ET. To earn the skin ahead of its release, players need to sign on June 21 and will be granted 3 hours to compete in 10 matches, earning as many points as possible. Those who score the highest will earn their reward, though each region has different placement requirements for the Thanos cosmetics.
Fortnite has hinted at crossovers in this way before, with tweets that give out hints. Rick Sanchez was hinted in this way on June 7, just before his character was transported into the Fortnite Universe. Fortnite did it again with Thanos, though it was unclear when the first tweet was posted whether a skin or an event was incoming. Fortnite hit fans with both.
Those who want Thanos early need to work hard, but those with patience will get their chance to. Either way, Fortnite has officially confirmed that Thanos is inevitable, and not even being snapped out of existence could bring an end to his madness.
