The new version of Kingpin who is on his way towards taking over the criminal underworld of Marvel Comics just insulted Thanos massively, basically calling the Mad Titan a joke. Wilson Fisk’s son, Butch, is currently on a mission to usurp Wilson Fisk’s remaining control over organized crime New York City and has dubbed himself the new Kingpin as he prepares to eliminate his father once and for all. While discussing his villainous plan of criminal control, Butch takes a dig at Thanos with a massive insult.

In Devil’s Reign #5 by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, the walls of madness are closing in around Wilson Fisk as he remembers that Daredevil’s secret identity is Matt Murdock. Fisk becomes obsessed with revenge and lets the rest of his meticulous planning and flawless follow-through fall to the wayside. Kingpin turns on his fellow villains, such as Doctor Octopus, and even decides to no longer use the Purple Man’s powers to become President of the United States. As Fisk is in a state of such disarray, the new Kingpin decides now is the perfect time to strike.

Butch, the new Kingpin, discusses taking out his father permanently with Matt Murdock’s “brother” Mike Murdock. When Daredevil was in prison, Mike took over Matt’s identity as a citizen and a lawyer so no one would suspect Matt Murdock and Daredevil were the same person. Since he took over Matt’s life for him, Mike and Butch have been working together to take over New York’s criminal underbelly. Mike only exists because of the supernatural powers of a mystical artifact known as the Norn Stone, something Mike still has in his possession. When Butch is talking to Mike about hitting his father, Mike says that using the stone might be a better, non violent alternative to attain power. Butch becomes infuriated with Mike at even suggesting using something like a magic stone to achieve his purposes, saying, “I’m not gonna fly around with some magic stone wearing a d**n costume or whatever!” Butch then hammers home his point by saying, “You never took this seriously. You never take anything seriously! I’m gonna go run a $#@% business. Go play with your stones.” Butch makes it clear that he thinks achieving power by use of a magical artifact is nonsense and isn’t the way true criminal villainy is conducted, which is a huge insult, unintentionally, aimed directly at Thanos.

The Mad Titan Thanos is famous for using not just one, but six magical stones in order to attain absolute power, in both the comics and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanos took control over all of the Infinity Gems in the Marvel Comics event Infinity Gauntlet, and during that storyline he used those magic stones to eliminate half of all life in the universe as well as becoming a nearly unstoppable threat for Marvel’s heroes. In the film Infinity War, Thanos did the exact same thing, cementing his unofficial role as Marvel’s prime wielder of magical stones, so Butch’s insult must be aimed at Thanos whether he meant it or not.

Butch's Kingpin makes it clear that he thinks superhero/supervillain shenanigans is absolutely ridiculous in every form or fashion and believes the true way to conduct oneself as a criminal mastermind is through more realistic methods without getting mixed up in magic or anything comparable. Butch’s way of doing things is completely at odds with how fans have witnessed Thanos gaining power more times than one, meaning that whether he meant to or not, Marvel’s new Kingpin just greatly insulted Thanos.
