Warning! Potential spoilers for Eternals #7 by Marvel Comics

Is Thanos about to become the new Prime Eternal among the Eternals? In a new preview for the upcoming Eternals #7 by Marvel Comics, the Mad Titan ponders the idea of running for the Prime Eternal. If the villain gained the role, he would have more power among his own kind than ever before. But, challenging Zuras for the role might be more complicated than it seems.

In the Eternals universe, being the Prime Eternal is an honor and serious responsibility. Whoever becomes the Prime Eternal is the lead decision-maker among the eternal cosmic beings and can activate the Uni-Mind. The Uni-Mind is formed when the Eternals perform a ritual join their energy together to become the singular, powerful entity. In becoming the Uni-Mind, they conjoin to create the most powerful form of the Eternals. So, whoever becomes the Prime Eternal has quite a bit of power at their disposal, as they can activate the Uni-Mind when they feel the need.

In a new preview for Eternals #7 by Kieron Gillen, Esad Ribic, and Matthew Wilson, the Eternals arrive in Lemuria, the home of the Deviants. Following the recent revelation that each time they use the Great Machine to resurrect fallen Eternal, it kills a human on Earth, the Eternals are looking for a change. Unfortunately, given their hundreds of thousands of years of war against the Deviants, they're not exactly welcomed with open arms. However, Kro, who is back in charge of the Deviants, calls off his people.

Meanwhile, deep in the subspace tunnels of the Great Machine, Thanos meets with Druig, asking the traitorous Eternal what's next now that he's back to life. Druig suggests that in order to get a new body (as his old one was Frankensteined by Phastos and has a self-destruct feature), he should put his name forth as a candidate against Zuras for the new Prime Eternal. By doing so, he would have the authority to demand a new body. Thanos wonders if the "shame of Titan" could become the new Prime Eternal.

It's unclear how Thanos would convince the Eternals to vote (or directly make) him the new Prime Eternal. However, the "shame of Titan" has one thing going for him - the Eternals are currently in a messy state, and leadership is needed. Has Zuras lost all the goodwill he previously gained following the revelation about the Great Machine? Can Thanos convince the Eternals to let him lead? It seems unlikely considering his recent killing spree - but stranger things have happened in the pages of Marvel Comics. Eternals #7 is in comic book stores next week.
