Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson has "finally" seen Avengers: Infinity War - and she's impressed! Thompson plays Valkyrie, a former defender of Asgard whom Thor found drinking heavily and earning a living as a scavenger on the planet Sakaar. Thor eventually managed to convince Valkyrie to defend Asgard and its people once more, and the pair were together at the end of Thor: Ragnarok. However, Thompson does not appear in Avengers: Infinity War, so her first experience of the movie was seeing it on the big screen with everyone else.

There's no explanation given for Valkyrie's absence (along with other Ragnarok characters) in Infinity War, though it can be assumed that she was able to lead some of the Asgardians to safety when Thanos attacked Thor's ship. For now, we're going to assume that Marvel didn't let a major supporting character die off-screen, so wherever Valkyrie is, she's probably OK.

Despite being a member of the Marvel family, Thompson didn't get a chance to see Avengers: Infinity War until today. It looks like it was worth the wait, however, as the actress took to Twitter to offer her immediate (very positive) reaction.

Just saw Infinity WAR. (Finally) Oh my goodness, holy wow. I would say you’ve outdone yourselves @MarvelStudios + @Russo_Brothers.. but I know it’s just the beginning.— Tessa Thompson (@TessaThompson_x) May 1, 2018

Without giving too much away, it's safe to say that Avengers 4 will have to deal with a great deal of fallout from Avengers: Infinity War, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe may never be the same again. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has described Avengers 4 as a "finale" for the MCU's story so far, and said that it will also offer a kind of new beginning. "There will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after," Feige said, adding, "I know it will not be in ways people are expecting.”

So, what does that mean for Valkyrie? She may be intrinsically linked to Thor, but Valkyrie is a powerful superhero in her own right, and Thompson has said that Feige has shown interest in an all-female team-up movie that she could be a part of. While Marvel's roster of women has been somewhat sparse compared to the number of male characters, the next two Marvel movies - Ant Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel - are both headlined by female superheroes. With little yet known about what's to come in the MCU after 2019, the possibilities for Valkyrie's future are limitless.
