Tesla now appears to be offering new positions that, among other things, will limit the amount of complaints aimed at the company’s CEO, Elon Musk. Presumably, the new job will also limit the amount of Tweets and responses sent out by Musk on Twitter. Something that has proven to be an issue on more than one occasion for both Musk and Tesla.

As more Tesla electric vehicles roll off the production line and land on customer driveways, it is to be expected that more issues, complaints, and/or suggestions will surface. Normally, this would be handled by a dedicated customer service team, but Tesla recently did away with its PR department. As a result, even more are now taking to social media to voice their concerns and compliments, and often directly at Musk.

Spotted by Jay Boller, Tesla is now looking to hire ‘Tesla Energy Support Specialists’ to help “handle a variety of customer service issues.” The job description goes on to specifically state that another part of the job is to “address social media escalations directed at the CEO.” Although this likely applies to multiple social media platforms, Twitter seems to be a popular option for many Tesla owners, as well as Musk. In fact, Musk can often be seen replying to customer Tweets, which soon might be the role of these dedicated specialists.

Can Tesla’s Social Specialists Fix Musk Problem?

Tesla is considered by many to be a forward-thinking company and sometimes thinking ahead requires thinking outside the box. This is something that Musk does in abundance and often takes to Twitter to voice some of those thoughts. The problem, is this can also sometimes result in making news in itself. Musk has already been criticized for comments on COVID-19 and got into some trouble with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over tweeting about taking the company private. An issue that eventually led to some calling into question Musk’s leadership at Tesla. Even more recently, Tesla’s share price plummeted after the outspoken CEO tweeted how it was “too high.”

What has become apparently clear in recent times is just how influential Musk is as a Twitter personality and how that influence extends well beyond Tesla. Only recently, Signal appeared to get a new user boost, in part thanks to a Tweet by Musk. Not to mention, bitcoin scams involving Musk's name have become a common problem on the platform. With all this in mind, as well as the lack of a current customer service team in place, it is not surprising that Tesla is now looking to hire someone (or even a team of people) to deal with customer issues before Musk decides to. Although it remains to be seen if these new Tesla specialists will result in Musk tweeting any less than usual.
