Tesla Roadside Assistance is a suite of services dedicated to helping drivers in various situations for free. It’s common to have car trouble when on the go, and while a quick fix is an answer most of the time, some problems will need professional attention. While some agencies offer roadside assistance, many automakers include this service with their vehicles. For example, buyers of the Polestar 2 get four years' worth of roadside aid that can be accessed by using the automaker’s smartphone app or pressing the connect button on the roof.

Tesla EVs are among the most sought-after products in the market thanks to the manufacturer's investments in innovation. Also, range anxiety remains a reality and that's made many consumers choose models capable of driving for long distances before needing a charge. Teslas offer more driving range than many models, though there are some exceptions. Startup automaker Lucid is going after Tesla's share in the luxury segment with its Air EV.

Roadside assistance can be requested using the Tesla mobile app. Drivers can access the feature from the bottom of the app's home screen. They're encouraged to attach any additional details that could help Tesla's team locate them and better learn the nature of their situation. The first step is opening the app and selecting the 'Roadside' option. Subsequently, drivers will need to select the exact issue from a few options. Providing extra information, as previously mentioned, is highly recommended. Finally, users need to choose 'Request Help' and await a response. Tesla's Roadside Assistance package comprises the following services – breakdowns, flat tires, lockouts, and depleted range. The automaker claims that it covers more situations than what's listed on the website.

What Tesla Roadside Assistance Doesn't Cover

Tesla Roadside Service

While Tesla's policy is quite comprehensive, it doesn't support some situations. This means that the driver will be charged in those cases. For instance, accidents and objects hitting the vehicle or damage incited by road fixtures aren't included. The same goes for transportation costs from the Tesla Service Center, vandalism, broken window repair or repair, damage caused by driving the car off-road, depletion of battery due to standard wear and tear, extraction of the EV from mud or snow, and more.

Tesla's Roadside service can only be requested once per incident. It is transferable to a new owner of the same vehicle provided that the coverage period hasn't expired. If a used Tesla is sold to another individual, the new owner is required to contact the automaker and provide proof of ownership to continue enjoying the service.
