Any hopes for Terrifier 2 coming out in the next few weeks have been dashed, with the indie horror movie delayed to early 2021 at the soonest. The plan for the follow-up to 2016's Terrifier was a release around Halloween, the ideal time for all scary movies. The coronavirus pandemic has made filming and production unsuitable for most movies, however, and Terrifier 2 is proving to be no exception.

Filmmaker Damien Leone, who is spearheading the sequel, took to the movie's official Facebook page to announce the delay for Terrifier 2. He stated that the last bit of filming is currently taking place, with hopes of wrapping up the movie by the early part of the new year. Leone's full comment can be read below:

Unfortunately, Leone noted that the completion of the film is only half the battle in having Terrifier 2 see the light of day. Distribution for the movie isn't currently secured, as the independent project wasn't backed by any distributors or movie studios. The original film was partially financed on Indiegogo and eventually released on DVD by Dread Central Presents. The sequel has also been financed on Indiegogo, but has yet to find a distributor.

Terrifier proved to be a major hit in the independent horror world, with Art the Clown staking out a claim as one of the scarier killer clowns in a genre full of them. A Halloween release would've been the perfect time to reintroduce Art the Clown to a larger audience. Instead, it seems fans will have to wait a little longer for Terrifier 2 to become available.
