Warning: Spoilers for Terrifier 2!Art the Clown is the character who pulls off all of Terrifier 2’s impressive kills, but his mysterious sidekick, The Pale Little Girl, could be even more powerful than her seemingly stronger associate. In the original Terrifier, Art the Clown acted alone. The slasher villain killed numerous victims using nothing but brute strength and a seemingly supernatural imperviousness to injury. For the sequel, however, Art is joined by a companion who aids him in his dirty work.

While Terrifier featured Art the Clown’s nastiest kill ever, the original movie also featured a lower body count than Terrifier 2. The splatter sequel sees Art the Clown murder many more people than he has in earlier movie appearances and, to do this, he needs the help of The Pale Little Girl. A silent sidekick who resembles Art the Clown — if he was a small child, that is — The Pale Little Girl is left unexplained in Terrifier 2. However, carefully dissecting the clues featured in Terrifier 2, and relying a little on director Damian Leone’s comments, allows viewers to discover that The Pale Little Girl is, in fact, a demonic entity that resurrected Art the Clown and now helps facilitate his killing sprees.

Who Plays The Little Pale Girl In Terrifier 2

In Terrifier 2, The Pale Little Girl is played by Amelie McLain, a child actor who also appeared on General Hospital and in the 2020 horror movie Transference. Terrifier 2 is the first of the Art the Clown movies to feature the character and is one of McLain’s biggest roles to date. Despite this, according to Damien Leone, speaking to BloodyDisgusting, the young star took to the role like a natural: “You could see how she was discovering who the character was for herself and what she could bring to it from what Dave was doing.”

Since Art the Clown is fast becoming a horror icon, playing his sidekick is a tall order. However, McLain’s performance got the all-important seal of approval from Art the Clown himself, when actor David Howard Thornton was asked about her role in the movie. He told BloodyDisgusting, "I was blown away by her performance in this. She's so good.” Thornton also commended McLain’s ability to handle the challenges of the role, like wearing contact lenses that still make her lead co-star cringe. Terrifier 2’s ending confirms that the Art the Clown character is all but impossible to kill, but The Pale Little Girl’s eerie eyes are one of many hints that she, like the killer clown, is not as human as she might initially appear.

What Terrifier 2 Hints About The Little Pale Girl's Backstory & Origins

The Pale Little Girl’s backstory is left almost entirely unexplained in Terrifier 2, but there is one pivotal clue to her origins. Early in Terrifier 2, a newspaper article is briefly shown about a little girl named Emily who went missing near Art the Clown’s funhouse some time ago. While the obvious conclusion would be that The Pale Little Girl is Emily’s ghost or spirit, this doesn’t really fit her twisted antics. Since The Pale Little Girl appears after Art the Clown’s resurrection and accompanies him for his killing spree, it seems more likely that Terrifier 3 could reveal instead that she is an embodiment of Satan or a demon taking the form of one of Art the Clown’s victims.

What Does The Little Pale Girl Want & Why Can Only 3 People See Her?

Terrifier 2 Art the Clown

The Pale Little Girl, from what viewers see of her in Terrifier 2, wants the same thing as Art the Clown. She lives to torture, maim, murder, and gleefully terrorize ordinary people, often employing blunt instruments and rusty tools to achieve this. While The Pale Little Girl isn’t always an active participant in Art the Clown’s violence, it is clear from her first appearance — grinning malevolently while defecating explosively on the floor of a laundromat — that she is not an ordinary or good-natured character. Unlike the creepily silent Art the Clown, Terrifier 2's The Pale Little Girl can only be seen by a few people, implying she possesses different powers from Art's super-strength and resilience. This is further confirmed when she imitates Jonathan's voice with impossible accuracy to bait Sienna.

Terrifier 3 Should Reveal More About The Little Pale Girl

Amelie McLain as The Little Pale Girl Terrifier 2

Much like Art the Clown was the breakout star of director Damian Leone’s 2013 anthology horror effort All Hallow’s Eve, The Pale Little Girl is the most interesting new addition to the Terrifier franchise’s mythos in Terrifier 2. It is intriguing to see Final Girl Sienna access some sort of unexplained supernatural power to revive herself after Art the Clown’s attack, but this storyline is not as compelling as the unsettling, haunting image of a small child following Art the Clown around and helping him pull off his crimes. As such, The Pale Little Girl’s backstory could be fleshed out in a third Terrifier movie.

Judging by the controversy over Terrifier 2’s most intense scenes, even hardened horror hounds might not want a movie focused on how Art the Clown turned poor Emily into a ghost in the first place. However, Terrifier 3 could explain The Pale Little Girl’s connection to Art the Clown and her abilities, as well as clarify whether she really is the Devil, without becoming oppressively bleak. Already, Terrifier 2 has proven that the franchise can get gorier without becoming unwatchable in its brutality, so there is no reason that Terrifier 3 couldn’t continue this trend with The Pale Little Girl’s story.
