The cast of the new horror-thriller film, Skeletons in the Closet, is being led by Iron Man and Empire's Terrence Howard, alongside American Crime Story's Cuba Gooding Jr. The film is being directed by Asif Akbar, who has directed on shows such as HBO's Silicon Valley, and most recently, Mojave Diamonds. The script is being written by Koji Steven Sakai and Joshua A. Cohen. Other actors joining the cast include Blade's Udo Kier, Oscar nominee Sally Kirkland, and Clifton Powell.

According to Deadline, Skeletons in the Closet is reuniting Oscar nominee Howard and Oscar winner Gooding Jr after both previously starred in Lee Daniels’ The Butler. The original story for the film comes from Al Bravo, who is also the producer on the project. Bravo and production company Al Bravo Films have produced films such as The Commando starring The Expandable's Mickey Rourke, and Black Warrant, starring Cam Gigandet. Also producing the film are Akbar, Sakai, Colin Bates, Stan Erdreich and Monica R. Cooper. No release date has yet been announced, and the movie is still currently filming.

Skeletons in the Closet revolves around a mother who has been haunted by a malevolent spirit since childhood. In the story, the mother allows herself to become possessed in order to save the life of her terminally ill daughter. Skeletons in the Closet marks Gooding Jr's first film since 2020s Life in a Year, which starred Jaden Smith and Cara Delevingne. Meanwhile, Howard's next film is The System with Fast and Furious franchise actor, Tyrese Gibson.
