Director Tim Miller revealed a new look at Linda Hamilton's return as Sarah Connor to announce that the first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate is coming soon. Among all of the sci-fi/action franchises to come from the '80s, The Terminator is one that not only continues to hold up, but also sees possible continuations hit theaters. However, after a few lacking and forgettable installments, James Cameron took a more hands-on approach and worked with Deadpool's Tim Miller to make the sixth Terminator film, which will retcon the last three films and be a sequel to T2: Judgement Day.
The newest film, Terminator: Dark Fate, was able to generate plenty of interest from longtime fans of the property once it was announced that Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger were both returning to the franchise. While Schwarzenegger appeared in the last attempted reboot/sequel, Hamilton has not been part of the franchise since 1991. She has been front and center throughout the film's early pieces of marketing, and while those photos have done enough to keep fans talking, the release of a trailer is also highly anticipated.
Thanks to an update shared by Tim Miller through the official Terminator: Dark Fate Twitter account, the first trailer is now confirmed to be on the way. Miller didn't provide an exact release date for the trailer, but did say that they are "just weeks away" from the first footage being officially released online. Until then, he did accompany the announcement with a new look at Hamilton from the film, which can be seen below:
“I like to spend every #TerminatorDay in a dark room thinking dark thoughts & our edit bay is the perfect place! We're here putting the finishing touches on our FIRST TRAILER-we're just weeks away from releasing this fucker into the wild & we're very, very excited.” -Tim Miller pic.twitter.com/Eh0gcCRi61— Terminator: Dark Fate (@Terminator) May 12, 2019
With a November release date, we're roughly six months away from Terminator: Dark Fate, making it the perfect time for a first trailer to be released. Excitement for the trailer has only grown in recent weeks after Paramount showed off footage at CinemaCon that left attendees buzzing. After the less-than-stellar recent installments, the first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate will need to have a strong effect on the masses to help bring the franchise back to glory.
The returns of Hamilton and Schwarzenegger may be the most notable cast members for the franchise overall, but the upcoming film also features a few exciting new additions. Mackenzie Davis is set to play one of the new protagonists, who appears to have some level of cybernetic enhancements. Gabriel Luna is also slated to be the new Terminator for the film, and the CinemaCon footage revealed that he has the ability to split himself in two. Whenever the first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate does arrive, expect it to highlight many of these new qualities, while also still making it clear that Linda Hamilton is back too.
