Warning: contains a preview for The Amazing Spider-Man #68!

Spider-Man's sister Teresa Parker will face their parents' murderer. In The Amazing Spider-Man #68Teresa - a spy and the long-lost sister of Peter Parker - is still trying to find the truth about her past. Now, she might be closer to answers, though they may just be lies designed to confuse her.

Teresa has been thrown curveballs about her identity since she was first introduced in Amazing Spider-Man: Family Business in 2014. The character has been appearing off and on, either questioning her identity or appearing to face the Chameleon. Her latest appearance is no exception.

The Amazing Spider-Man #68 has the creative team of Nick Spencer, Ed Brisson, Marcelo Ferreira, Carlos Gómez, Zé Carlos, Wayne Faucher, Morry Hollowell, Andrew Crossley, Erick Arciniega, and VC's Joe Caramagna. In a new preview from Marvel, Teresa is shown face to face with the Finisher - the man who was responsible for killing Richard and Mary Parker. Even though their death occurred long ago and robotic clones of them were once created then destroyed, the story has seemingly not come to a full conclusion yet. Now Teresa Parker will be trying to seek more answers about her and Peter's family history - and her place in it.

The latest preview splits between Teresa and Peter. It begins with Teresa confronting the Chameleon and the Finisher, before shifting over to Peter talking to Betty Brant and Ned Leeds, who was supposed to be dead - again. In standard comic fashion, Ned died, returned, died again, and has once more returned. After all, he isn't Uncle Ben, so he has that ability. The first few pages with Teresa reveal that even though she is in a Symkarian prison, the Finisher only appears to be there. This Spider-Man villain is actually a hologram as bullets pass through him without having any effect.

As the preview states, the Finisher was responsible for framing the Parkers. They were secret agents, but evidence was planted that made them appear to be traitors. This view of them by the government continued up until Peter was able to clear their names many, many years ago. The Parker family history just doesn't seem to want to stay in the past, particularly not when it has the potential to tear apart the things that Peter has built up for himself or come to rely on.

The fact that a hologram is involved should already be a major red flag to Teresa Parker, as well as to readers. Whenever Spidey's sister is having conflicts about her identity, there tend to be some red herring tactics at play. With the Kingpin, Mentallo was involved. The Chameleon is also known for being able to be just about anyone, but he is also a master of deception. He can create replicas of people, as he did under Norman Osborn's command when Peter's parents seemed to return back in the 90's. Considering there are holograms at work, this could easily be a ploy by the Chameleon to trick Teresa Parker, instill doubt, and cause numerous problems in her life - and Peter's. This might not even be the actual Finisher, however, if it is - the Parkers will finally have a chance to know the full story about their parents. They'll know how and why they died. Yet this is all predicated on this legitimately being him. The mystery will continue to unravel when Spider-Man's sister faces her parents killer on June 9, 2021.
