Kendall Jenner celebrated the launch of her 818 Tequila company over the weekend by hosting a star-studded party. But while the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was busy commemorating her first solo business venture, another company was spreading the word on her alleged plagiarism. Another US-based tequila company is insinuating that Kendall copied their style and charged more for lower quality tequila.

The supermodel moved forward with the official release of 818 Tequila after facing backlash over her alleged cultural appropriation of Mexican migrant workers. Fans blasted Kendall for donning "migrant chic" attire and riding on horseback with a cowboy hat in her brand's first official campaign ad. The reality star took to trip to her company's distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, for the promo shoot. But instead of appreciating the essence Kendall wanted to capture for the ad, the public bashed her and accused her of culturally appropriating once again. But it looks like Kendall has bigger fish to fry after her new tequila company was targeted with copycat claims.

Texas-based tequila company Tequila 512 took to Instagram to blast Kendall's 818 Tequila for seemingly serving as a lower quality but higher-priced knockoff off their own. "You may have seen that @kendalljenner released a “new” tequila today," the company captioned a side-by-side photo of the two company bottles. "Note the similarities, including the color, the name and it is made at the same distillery in Tequila Mexico as ours," they added. The company, based in Austin, Texas, uses the 512 area code while Kendall uses Calabasas's 818 area code. But the brand accuses Kendall of making cheaper quality tequila while charging more. "Their batches are being distilled twice. Ours three times. Yet she is charging twice as much per bottle," they noted.

Tequila 512 was made aware of the similarities after a customer texted them a photo of Kendall's tequila asking if it was theirs. "And here we are getting messages like the one in this post image," they continued. "Doesn’t seem very cool." Tequila 512 costs around $30 while 818 Tequila will run you around $60 per bottle. If what Tequila 512 is saying is true, it wouldn't make much sense to pay more for a beverage if there are more affordable options that get the job done. Kendall has yet to respond to 512 Tequila's claims. She's been busy pushing her new brand.

She enjoyed her launch party with her sisters, momager, and a number of celebrities including Katy Perry, Drake, and Chris Brown. Travis Scott was also in attendance along with Kylie Jenner and her BFF Stassi Karanikolaou. With Kendall's celebrity backing, it'll take a lot more than one Instagram post for Tequila 512 to get through to the Kardashian-Jenner machine.
