Tenet star John David Washington teases that the latest trailer for Christopher Nolan's upcoming release reveals more about the movie than expected. Many individuals are hopeful that Nolan's latest film will be the first big studio movie to welcome people back into movie theaters during the coronavirus pandemic. Since mid-March, a number of major films have been delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. It wasn't long after these initial delays that most theaters were closed down while stay-at-home-orders were implemented. Even though there's no guarantee that theaters will be able to reopen this summer, Tenet is still scheduled to release in theaters this July.

However, Tenet's marketing has been playing it safe when revealing their release date in promotional materials, in the event that the pandemic worsens. The most recent trailer for the film, which made its grand debut in Fortnite, doesn't mention its anticipated summer release date but does reveal more details about its incredibly complex time travel plot, which is centered on preventing World War III. Rather than moving forward with a more straightforward time travel storyline, Nolan's upcoming film will be unraveling its plot using time inversion, or time reversal. Washington, who leads the film as a still-unnamed Protagonist, teased that the trailer revealed even more details about the upcoming film than many may have realized.

During an interview with Geoff Keighley during the Fortnite-hosted Tenet trailer reveal (via ComicBook.com), Washington explains that the inversion plot point reveal left him "overwhelmed with joy, disbelief suspended in that." He added that "it's interesting, because there are just little nuggets of information and just breadcrumbs of information about the movie that I'm surprised [Nolan] was willing to reveal." He went on to explain that, "We're familiar with his films, but this seems like something different. Seems like this is where he's about to take us for the next 10, 15 years of filmmaking."

The latest trailer certainly boosted fans' excitement for the upcoming film, but it's also very telling that it chose not to show its release date at the very end. Unfortunately, with the pandemic showing no signs of slowing down just yet, it's difficult to see the movie going through with its July 17 release date. Warner Bros. has even revealed that it needs 80 percent of the world's theaters to open - including those in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco - before it can officially release the film. So far, it's still up in the air whether or not that will be feasible by this summer.

However, if movie theaters are able to find a safe way to reopen with extra safety measures put in place, Tenet would be the perfect way to bring audiences back into their fold. Nolan's incredibly creative features have always been popular among movie-goers, and this one sounds like a thrilling adventure. Not to mention, considering how excited Washington seems about it and its wildly inventive plot, it's sure to be another home run for Nolan. Unfortunately, it's still too early to tell if Tenet can stick with its anticipated July release.
