Christopher Nolan has revealed some new details about Robert Pattinson's Tenet character. A new Nolan film is always enough to stir up excitement among movie lovers, but Tenet seems to have garnered even more anticipation for fans. Even now, a little over a month before the film's release, so much remains a mystery, and that's exactly how Nolan wants it. Tenet's own stars, including Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh, have expressed just how complex the story, which centers on the world of international espionage, is. The characters at the center of Tenet, especially John David Washington's Protagonist, have been tasked with preventing a World War III-level event, and they'll be using something called "inversion" to do it.

Up until recently, Tenet was thought to be the first major film to welcome moviegoers back to theaters after the coronavirus pandemic shut them down in March. It was initially scheduled for July 17, and Warner Bros. and Nolan sought to keep it in place for as long as they could. However, Tenet was officially delayed just over a week ago; it will now come out on July 31. With Tenet's release steadily getting closer (barring no further delays), more details about what audiences can expect are being unveiled.

As part of an EW feature on Tenet, Nolan has shared some fresh teases about his latest time-bending film. While Nolan has been more willing to let plot details fly, most information regarding the characters has been kept under lock and key. That's why it's so exciting that Nolan has revealed Pattinson's character is named Neil... at least, he might be. As Nolan jokingly said, "We think he may be called Neil. You never really quite know what’s going on with these identities."

Nolan continued by describing Pattinson's character as a "slightly rascally character who operates within what they refer to as this twilight world of operatives in different secret services." This pretty much falls in line with what was shown in Tenet's trailers. The most recent one saw Pattinson teaming up with Washington's character, who so far certainly seems to be the good guy. Additionally, that "rascally" descriptor seems apt when one remembers that final trailer had Pattinson suggesting they crash a plane. From those few glimpses alone, he seems like a fitting partner for Washington.

Considering how much effort has been put in to keep the bulk of Tenet a secret, it's likely that not much more will be revealed about the film until its actual release. After all, there's only a little over a month left before it'll hit theaters, so it won't be much longer until everyone's questions get answered. At least Pattinson's character finally has a name. At least, it sure seems like he does. We'll see if that name actually sticks when Tenet arrives in July.
