Tenet becomes director Christopher Nolan's very own Doctor Strange in time-bending fan art. Ever since it was first announced, Nolan's latest film has remained something of an enigma. For a long time, Tenet's story was kept a closely-guarded secret to the point where even some of its stars, like Michael Caine, didn't know what it was about during filming. Just two weeks ago, Tenet's official synopsis was made public, and while it didn't get into many specifics, it did establish some key things, some of which were already known: Tenet is centered in the world of international espionage, there's no real time travel but instead something called inversion, and John David Washington's character might simply be named Protagonist.

The time travel element in particular is what seems to be intriguing fans the most, mainly because it looks like Nolan has devised a very unique take on the well-traveled trope. Most fans assumed Tenet involves traditional time travel, where characters can visit the past and prevent future events. However, star Robert Pattinson recently insisted there is no time travel in Tenet, and the synopsis seemed to confirm this with the use of the new term inversion.

Tenet is hardly the only movie to take a stab at time-related plot elements, and in a new piece from graphic artist BossLogic, the world of Tenet collides with Marvel's Doctor Strange, In the piece, Washington's Protagonist wields his handgun, but also seems to have the power of the Time Stone on hand based on the green rings circling his wrist and arm. You can see it for yourself in the space below.

Tenet's inversion, based on the newest trailer, seems to essentially be time reversal, which isn't that unlike the time-bending used in Doctor Strange. Using the Time Stone within the Eye of Agamotto, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is able to turn back time during his showdown with Dormammu and, to a much lesser extent, restore a half-eaten apple to its original state. Of course, Tenet appears to be using this on a much greater scale, as it plays a pivotal role in the plot to prevent World War III.

Right now, the biggest mystery surrounding Tenet isn't what its plot entails, but whether it was make its scheduled release date of July 17. The coronavirus pandemic has delayed numerous movies and shuttered theaters across the globe, and Warner Bros. is uncertain over whether enough will be open again by the time Tenet is supposed to debut. As of right now, while a Tenet delay seems likely, Warner Bros. has yet to make the move. However, they will probably decide soon. Much like Tenet itself, it's only a matter of time.
