American Temptation Island fans may be surprised to learn that there are ten countries that have versions of the show, and we're going to talk about these international versions today. All around the world, there are couples putting their relationships on the line to get clarity. International versions of the reality show feature cast members who are just as likely to cheat as their American counterparts. When it comes to temptation, no nation is safe.

The American version wasn’t the first in the franchise. The original Temptation Island concept came from a Dutch network, and it was called Blind Vertrouwen. In English, this means, "Blind Faith." The show got poor ratings, but Temptation Island aired the following year. Then, versions aired in other countries, including Argentina, Bulgaria, and Australia. While most of the shows have been canceled, they are a part of Temptation Island history.

Netherlands

The Netherlands is originally where Temptation Island came from. The failed version, Blind Vertrouwen, led to Temptation Island. The show had other Netherlands spin-offs, including Temptation Island VIPS (which focused on celebrities) and Temptation Island: Love or Leave. However, quite recently, broadcasters in the Netherlands announced that they were pulling all shows related to dating. This was due to a scandal following sexual harassment on the show, according to NL Times.

Portugal

The Portuguese version of Temptation Island was called Ilha da Tentação, which translates to Isle of Temptation. The show aired between 2002 and 2003 and was then canceled. They rebooted the show in 2019. The recent season has been leaving the audience aghast, as couples have been cheating on their partners. On the island, partners make mistakes and pay the price.

Australia

Australia is no stranger to dramatic reality TV shows. There have been Aussie renditions of Love Island and Married At First SightTemptation Island Australia season one aired in 2002, and despite high ratings, it wasn’t renewed for a second season. Producers wanted to reboot the show in 2019 and casting calls began online, but the new version never came to fruition.

Finland

The Finnish version of Temptation Island was called Temptation Island Suomi. The show has the same format as the USA Network version. Couples appear to test their relationships. The show started in 2015 and it is still going strong.

France

The French version of Temptation Island is L'Île de la tentation (this means "The Island of Temptation"). The show aired from 2002 to 2008. While the show stopped filming, it was picked up again in 2010. Then, filming ceased again. There was another reboot in 2019, after a nine-year hiatus. Many participants who appeared on the reality show went on to appear on other French reality shows.

Bulgaria

The Bulgarian version of Temptation Island went by the name, Ostrovat na izkushenyeto. It aired in 2007 and ended at the beginning of 2008. While the show only had one season, it was incredibly popular. In the last episode of the sole season, Milena found out that her boyfriend cheated on her with one of the singles. The single was named Zlakata and Milena was utterly heartbroken. Filip tried to win her back after the bonfire but failed. Milena ended up calling security when he wouldn’t leave her alone.

Brazil

Ilha da Sedução, which means Island of Seduction, was the Brazilian version of Temptation Island. The show was presented by Babi Xavier. She is a popular actress and presenter in Brazil.

Germany

Temptation Island – Versuchung im Paradies, is the German version of the show. The first season of the show aired in 2019, and the second season aired in 2020. The celebrity edition of the show was called Temptation Island VIP, and it aired in late 2020. On the VIP version, some of the couples were married.

Italy

The Italian version of Temptation Island featured couples hoping to test their relationships. The first season aired in 2005. After a single season, the show went on hiatus. However, it was renewed in 2014. The theme song of the show is "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem and Rihanna.

Romania

The Romanian version of Temptation Island is readily available on YouTube. The show is rather popular and has been going on since 2015.

Russia

Russia has also participated in the Temptation Island franchise. The Russian version aired in 2005, but no other seasons followed.

United Kingdom

The British version of Temptation Island was short-lived. It aired between 2001 and 2002. Four couples appeared during this interesting social experiment.

Spain

The Spanish version of Temptation Island is called La Isla de las Tentaciones, which translates to "The Island of Temptations." The show originally aired in the early '00s, under a different name, Confianza Ciega. This means Blind Trust. See it on YouTube HERE. The show rebooted in 2020 and is currently still running. The Spanish version (unlike the American iteration) involved a cash prize for couples who stayed true to one another.

South Africa

South Africa is the latest country to participate in the Temptation Island franchise. Casting for the show is underway and it's expected to air in 2021. The South Africa version had a casting controversy, so it will be interesting to see what happens on this version of Temptation Island.
