Fans never expected Temptation Island season 3 couple Erin Smith and Corey Sobczyk to be on-again, off-again, but after a biter breakup on the reunion episode, Erin announced that she and Corey are back together. The news was surprising after what viewers saw on the reunion episode, but Erin and Corey seem happy to be giving their relationship another chance. In a string of Instagram videos, Erin revealed why it was so important to her and Corey to give it another go.
Erin and Corey decided to join the show as one of the season 3 couples because Erin wasn’t sure that Corey and her were compatible, and Corey didn’t feel like he was good enough for Erin. The two of them worked on their issues and at the final bonfire decided to leave the island together. However, on the reunion episode, the couple revealed that things had not been going well since then. Erin said Corey was lacking in several key areas as a partner, including “being honest, communication, being vulnerable, [and] showing emotion.” By the end of their segment, Erin said she didn’t want to be with Corey anymore and even host Mark Walberg agreed the couple was incompatible.
After the reunion episode, fans assumed Erin and Corey were done for good, but Erin went on Instagram Live to set the record straight. The soccer player admitted that there were a lot of flaws in her relationship with Corey and “there was a time where I honestly did not know that we would get through this.” She said it was difficult for the two of them to revisit their time on the island every week, which put a strain on their relationship that led to them breaking up on the reunion episode.
However, Erin told followers that she and Corey are currently back together and committed to making their relationship work. She revealed that the two of them have “never had a normal relationship.” The couple initially worked together and had to hide their relationship and then when they went on Temptation Island, they had to keep their relationship on the down low yet again. The reunion show was filmed months ago, and since then, the couple has reconciled. Corey even posted a sweet tribute to Erin on Instagram.
Not every couple who goes on Temptation Island leaves together, but when Erin and Corey broke up on the reunion show, fans were legitimately surprised. Their relationship seemed to be on even footing at the final bonfire; however, challenges outside the show clearly took their toll on the couple. Erin and Corey are tackling their issues together and perhaps this time they’ll be able to make it work.
