While AMC's The Walking Dead is currently showing Negan's reign over Rick and his people, the upcoming season The Walking Dead: A Telltale Series is still on the way. There have been various announcements signaling the return of the acclaimed adventure game series and fan-favorite character Clementine. Given the success of this series, along with other similar properties from Telltale Games, including the Batman game currently in the middle of its run, there is no real reason not to look forward to more from this zombie-themed point-and-click adventure.

This third season of The Walking Dead: A Telltale Series has gotten a trailer to show off the look of a more grown-up Clementine. There has been some additional information detailing some of the themes of this season, subtitled "A New Frontier", as well. Now, Telltale Games has released official information concerning the release date of this heavily anticipated game and more.

Today we can share the premiere date and new key art for The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier, the third season in the critically-acclaimed series.

The first of five episodes in The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier will premiere digitally worldwide starting Tuesday December 20th on PC from the Telltale Online Store, Steam, and other digital distribution services, on the Xbox Games Store for Xbox One® and Xbox 360®, and on the PlayStation®Network for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The episode will be available the same day for compatible iOS devices via the App Store, and for compatible Android-based devices via Google Play.

Beginning February 7th, the series will also be available for purchase on a special 'Season Pass Disc' for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, which will include the premiere episode for the third season, as well as access to all subsequent episodes in the five episode season for download as they become available.

PlayStation 4 users can preorder the digital version by visiting the product page on the digital store. As a special bonus, PS4 digital preorders also receive a complementary copy of The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Walking Dead: Michonne.

Steam users can preorder the season by visiting the product page on Steam, with a savings of 10% for preordering.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier is expected to receive a rating of 'M' (Mature) from the ESRB.

This announcement confirms a lot of what people should be expecting. December 20th will see the release of the first of five new episodes avaialble on PC and most consoles. PlayStation 4 pre-orders benefit from a great bonus if they have not already played the previous seasons of The Walking Dead already. Hearing of a new extended look at the game also means having a chance to really see how the game has evolved since the first season's release back in 2012.

Basically, this is all good news. While the TV series has been met with mixed reactions as of late, the video game has allowed for players to really live the world of The Walking Dead. Making tough choices and bonding with your lead character has been essential and generally handled-well in this series. Taking on a new story opens things up to more viceral action and emotional climaxes that can be handled with different approaches, depending on the player. Allowing for choices that effect the story has always been a highlight of these Telltale Games. Hopefully the storyline is in as fine a shape as ever.
