Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Gets a New Poster & Character One-Sheets

Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

As the 2016 summer movie season gets going in the next few weeks, moviegoers can expect to see big screen blockbusters featuring beloved characters from both the Marvel and DC Comics mythos, plus fellow nostalgia-inducing characters like the Heroes in a Half-Shell. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is the followup to the 2014 summer blockbuster, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and will see the turtles re-team with April O'Neil (Megan Fox) and Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) as fan-favorite heroes and villains from the characters' cartoon history are set to appear in the live-action adventure.

Gearing up for the premiere of the TMNT sequel, Paramount Pictures has released trailers that reacquaint fans with the villain Shredder (now played by Brian Tee) as well as introduce his mutant henchmen Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (Stephen "Sheamus" Farrelly). Additionally joining the cast in Out of the Shadows are the extraterrestrial Krang (voiced by Fred Armisen) and the hockey mask-wearing vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). Now, new character one-sheets and a full poster focus on the Heroes in a Half-Shell.

Released by Paramount Pictures, the UK one-sheets feature each of the turtles: Leonardo (Pete Ploszek), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher), Donatello (Jeremy Howard), and Raphael (Alan Ritchson) - while the poster brings them together in what seems to be the water sequence teased in the trailers. Perhaps one of the bigger criticisms of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the lack of screen time for the turtles themselves in the 2014 live-action reboot. However, in an effort to improve upon the film in Out of the Shadows, the cast of the sequel said the turtles will have more screen time and new emotional arcs. Additionally, the sequel will attempt to do right by fans by sticking with what worked - the comedy, for instance - and delivering plenty of fun action sequences.

Certainly the marketing for Out of the Shadows has both highlighted and heavily featured the Heroes in the Half-Shell, with these character one-sheets of Leo, Mikey, Donnie, and Raph being the latest batch of turtle-focused posters. Of course, whether the TMNT sequel does deliver a more fun action blockbuster focused on the heroes remains to be seen. But, based on the promotional materials we've seen from the film, directed by Dave Green (Earth to Echo) and scripted by Josh Applebaum and André Nemec, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows could potentially improve upon its predecessor.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows opens in U.S. theaters on June 3rd, 2016.
