The friendship between Scott and Stiles has always been the backbone of Teen Wolf. Without their strong bond and devotion to each other, the series would cease to exist. Stiles is the only person who has been at Scott's side since day one and he carries his best friend's burdens as his own.

Scott makes it through his transition because Stiles has his back, and Scott looks out for Stiles in return. Yet, all friendships have rough patches, and their's is no exception. Scott and Stiles share a deep, brotherly love, but they make plenty of mistakes in regards to their friendship.

Stiles Makes Scott Face Allison

Allison talking to Scott in Teen Wolf.

By Teen Wolf Season 3, Scott has taken on his fair share of monsters and stared death in the face on more than one occasion. Yet, nothing compares to the absolute terror he expresses when he and Allison make eye contact at a red light. The two haven't spoken since their breakup and Scott clearly isn't ready to break the ice.

Despite Scott's horror and endless protests, Stiles rolls down the window and shouts out a greeting. Lydia runs the light to avoid the confrontation, which makes for a comedic scene. It's not the worst thing a person could do, but Stiles never should've put his best friend in such an awkward position.

Stiles Yells At Scott For Being Too Trusting

Scott puts his hand on Stiles's shoulder in Teen Wolf.

Scott and Stiles are both good leaders in Teen Wolf, but they lead in drastically different ways. The two share a difference of opinion when it comes to second chances, and while Scott gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, Stiles holds a grudge.

Stiles's outburst towards Scott is uncalled for, as there's nothing wrong with seeing the good in people. Whether or not Scott is naive is up to interpretation, yet he's a true alpha for a reason. Scott's capacity for love and forgiveness is admirable, and Stiles should have approached the situation with more care.

Scott Leaves Stiles With Derek

Derek threatens Stiles in Teen Wolf.

Derek isn't a trustworthy character until the latter half of Teen Wolf, and his violent tendencies are prominent. In an effort to help Scott, Stiles always gets stuck working with Derek and ends up on the receiving end of his threats.

When Derek is poisoned by Kate, Scott leaves Stiles to take care of him while he goes to the Argent's house to search for an antidote. Derek is willing to do anything to survive and has no problem kicking Stiles around to ensure his cooperation. He never holds it against Scott, but as a human, Stiles shouldn't be the one dealing with such an aggressive werewolf.

Scott Dates Malia Without Telling Stiles

Malia with Scott in Teen Wolf

Stiles and Malia are considered to be the worst couple in Teen Wolf by a decent amount of fans. Their relationship originates from a hook-up in the basement of Eichen House, and Stiles's heart has always lied elsewhere.

Nevertheless, Malia is Stiles's first real girlfriend and the two are together for seasons. Given that he's with Lydia, Stiles likely would have granted Scott and Malia his blessing—but Scott never asks for it. He assumes that Stiles won't mind, and while he is right, he should've spoken to him before anything happened.

Scott Lies To Stiles While He's At GWU

This isn't a decision that's made solely by Scott, and Lydia also expresses worry over losing Stiles again. However, Scott can still pick up the phone and fill Stiles in at any time, but he chooses not to. Stiles's absence is due to actor availability, so a return to Beacon Hills was never in the cards.

Yet, from a storytelling perspective, Scott keeping such a huge secret from his best friend dishonors their relationship. He is looking out for Stiles's best interest, but it's at the cost of his free will and ability to make informed decisions.

Stiles Attacks Scott

Scott and Stiles in a tense encounter in Teen Wolf.

Scott is a character who viewers find especially difficult to be mad at. Even though he makes his fair share of poor decisions, Scott's heart is always in the right place. Similar to fans, Stiles isn't angry with his best friend often, but in this case, it's understandable. Scott misplaces his faith and the people Stiles loves most pay the price.

Sheriff Stilinski is fighting for his life in the hospital, while Lydia is lying comatose down the hall. But no matter how angry Stiles is, willfully attacking Scott is crossing a line. Scott would never lay a hand on Stiles if the situations were reversed, and Stiles using Scott as a punching bag is one of the most difficult scenes to get through of the series.

Scott Makes Out With Lydia

Lydia pats Scott's chest in Teen Wolf.

Because Scott is under the influence of his first full moon when he lashes out at Stiles, nothing he does can be held against him. Be that as it may, it doesn't change how badly Scott's actions hurt his best friend, especially when Stiles is putting his life on the line to help him.

Stiles and Lydia's relationship is based on an unrequited schoolboy crush, which is just one of their many romantic tropes in Teen Wolf. The two don't genuinely fall in love until they grow up, but Lydia is still the only girl Stiles has ever expressed an interest in. Scott makes out with his best friend's crush and recounts it back to him in detail when the full moon is at its peak.

Scott Doesn't Believe Stiles Is Real

Scott, Lydia, and Malia are in the tunnels in Teen Wolf

Similar to the night of the full moon, Scott losing his memory of Stiles is out of his control. Still, it doesn't make the circumstances any less painful. Lydia is the first person to realize that someone's missing, and Scott is initially in agreement.

Scott and Malia both start to doubt the existence of Stiles, and Lydia is the only one whose belief in him is resolute. Although he doesn't remember who he is, Scott is ready to give up on his best friend far too easily. It isn't until they make contact over the radio that Scott matches Lydia's determination to find him.

Stiles Drags Scott To The Woods To Look For A Dead Body

Scott and Stiles hide in the woods in the Teen Wolf pilot.

Now that Scott has come to terms with being a werewolf, this could also be considered the best thing Stiles has ever done for him. His transition doesn't just cause a physical change, as Scott grows into a fearless leader and confident individual.

Regardless of how he might feel about it in the present day, Scott loses something he'll never get back. As long as Scott's a werewolf, every day of his life is a fight for survival. Stiles had no idea of the pain his late-night adventure would cause, but he never should've pushed Scott into it.

Scott Believes Theo Over Stiles

Stiles stands in the rain in Teen Wolf.

Teen Wolf is no stranger to heartbreak and it has no problem eliciting emotion from fans. However, Stiles and Scott's fight in the rain is one of the most tragic scenes in the entire series. The best friends trust each other implicitly and rely on one another to have their back no matter what.

Theo isn't the most powerful Teen Wolf villain in terms of strength, but manipulation offers its own form of control. Scott turns his back on Stiles when he needs him most and puts his faith in Theo over the person who's been there for him since day one. His poor judgment endangers those he loves and almost ends his friendship with Stiles for good.
