Teen Wolf is known for its epic battles between different beings of the supernatural. Not only that, but the show is filled with monster hunters, meaning that every character, both supernatural and human, has a range of strengths and fighting abilities.

However, not everyone is equally as skilled in fighting. Some characters tend to hang back in battle and attribute in other ways. Because of this, it is easy to rank the main characters of Teen Wolf in terms of how well they would do in a fight.

Mason Hewitt

Despite momentarily being the Beast in season 5, Mason doesn't usually have much fighting prowess. As the younger pack's human member, Mason isn't able to fight off supernatural creatures as well as Liam or Hayden. He is incredibly smart and often acts as the pack's researcher, but this leaves him lacking in the physical department.

Mason definitely tries to fight when he has to, such as in season 4 when he humorously charges at a deadly and imposing berserker with a small bat in order to save his friends. But, ultimately, he wouldn't last very long in a battle against many of the other main characters.

Stiles Stilinski

He may be the best Teen Wolf character according to fans on Reddit, but Stiles hasn't always been the best fighter. In fact, it is due to his physical weakness that fans are often so endeared to him. As his iconic quote goes, "I am 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bone, okay? Sarcasm is my only defence!"

Stiles tends to lean on his sharp wit and detective skills when it comes to defeating evil, and, therefore, he usually tries to hang back in fights. He has often been captured by the pack's enemy when Scott isn't there to protect him, and, usually, all Stiles is able to do in those situations is give sarcastic remarks.

Lydia Martin

Lydia's fighting ability changes throughout the series. When she first gets her banshee powers, her abilities let her sense death but don't really make her stronger or faster. But, later on in the show, she learns martial arts from Parrish and is able to then harness her banshee scream into a weapon that she can fire at people.

However, even when Lydia gains better combat skills, technique isn't everything in the face of brute werewolf strength, and she is still able to get knocked out by other characters (such as Theo). And ultimately, Lydia's banshee sense and incredible intelligence were her main assets, rather than her fighting ability.

Liam Dunbar

Liam joined the pack in season 4 after being bitten by Scott, and he sometimes struggled to take to the werewolf lifestyle. But one thing he never struggled with was fighting, as he was often able to overpower his opponents.

Liam struggled with anger issues, which made him a big problem for Scott and Stiles. However, it ultimately helped Liam's fighting ability as it made him act far more brutal. He was even able to defeat and almost kill Scott in season 5. Liam ended up practically becoming the Alpha of his own pack by the end of the show, and, in terms of fighting ability, he definitely deserved that position.

Derek Hale

Many things about Derek have aged poorly. but one thing that is still great is how cool many of his fights looked. He was the first werewolf audiences saw that really had a grasp on his powers, and he ended up training Scott for a while on how to defeat Peter in season 1. He was also able to beat multiple members of the Alpha pack in combat in season 3.

While he did sometimes face defeat in battle, he was always able to intimidate people by his sheer toughness alone. And his fighting skills did remain generally pretty good, even when he was no longer an Alpha.

Allison Argent

Allison Argent never had any supernatural abilities, but her skills definitely compensated for that. As part of a hunting family, Allison was very skilled in archery, knives, and hand-to-hand combat. She often took charge in fights and was able to take down incredibly powerful opponents with both her weapons and her strategic mind.

From season 1 onwards, Allison often struggled with her fear that she would never be strong enough. She hated feeling weak and helpless, and this pushed her into training and learning as much as she could, which shaped her into a fearsome fighter and leader at only 17 years old.

Kira Yukimura

Kira joined the pack in season 3 and ended up becoming one of its main fighters, rivaling Alpha Scott. Kira was naturally skilled, meaning that she was able to wield a sword with little to no training. And Kira also had some great outfits, so she was able to look cool while fighting off supernatural monsters.

While she often got knocked out in fights in season 3, she kept on getting stronger, to the point that she even became a threat to the pack when her kitsune powers started overtaking her. She was sent to train with the Skinwalkers, so audiences can only imagine how much more skilled in battle she has become since then.

Jackson Whittemore

Jackson with his kanima tail in Teen Wolf

While Jackson is one of the most unlikeable Teen Wolf characters, he could definitely put up a fight. This was due to his kanima form, which was able to hold off three werewolves at once in season 2, after killing multiple hunters and humans alike.

Jackson didn't get much time to master his abilities, but he had an advantage of a tail, which combined with his werewolf-like powers made him a great asset to have in battle. His tail could be used as a weapon of brute force, and it could also be used to grab both objects and opponents, which gave him a bigger range of motion than just the hand-to-hand combat that werewolves tended to have.

Malia Tate

Malia was able to master her supernatural abilities pretty easily once she joined the pack, and she never hesitated to jump into battle in order to protect them. In fact, she loved to fight, as she immediately punched Stiles in the face when she met him at Eichen House.

What gave Malia an edge was her bloodthirsty instinct, since she was the child of Peter Hale and the Desert Wolf, two incredibly skilled supernatural creatures. Malia was strong enough that the Desert Wolf even wanted to steal her powers, but Malia was able to successfully hold the skilled assassin at bay, showing how good of a fighter she was.

Scott McCall

Teen Wolf Scott with Red Eyes

Audiences were able to see Scott's fighting ability grow throughout the series. He didn't have a great grasp on his powers in season 1, but, by the end of the show, many supernatural beings were heading to him for help, as they knew how skilled he was at protecting the innocent.  There is clearly a reason why he was able to defeat all of his previous enemies.

Scott later became a True Alpha due to his good heart, but also because of how well he held himself in battle. He even learned how to fight blindly in later seasons. And while he wasn't often the smartest, he was actually able to win some fights by strategizing cleverly.
