Stiles Stilinski is one of the main characters in Teen Wolfhe is the loveable best friend of the main protagonist who is often a great source of comic relief. The series is known to be quite witty within the script, and some of Stiles' best lines in Teen Wolf are his comebacks and burns of other characters, which is one of the many reasons that he is such a fan-favorite character.

Teen Wolf would not be what it is without the companionship and sarcasm of Stiles, who despite being an everyday human unlike many other characters, can at least rely on his sense of humar to get him through.

A Dangerous Dig

"Don't Be Such A Sour Wolf."

Derek pushes Stiles against a locker in Teen Wolf.

This is an iconic line within Teen Wolf, as it is one of the many moments between Stiles and Derek that fans love. It is Stiles' way of teasing Derek when he disagrees with the plan Stiles and Scott have come up with. At this point in the series, however, Stiles is actually really scared of Derek as he is unsure whether he is a killer or not.

This goes to show how Stiles uses comedy as a means of coping and how he reacts to fear and danger. This is especially comical as Stiles is just a high schooler while Derek is a much bigger and bulkier werewolf who could definitely take him out, but Stiles doesn't even consider this and takes the opportunity to tease him instead.

Self Defense

“I’m 147 Pounds Of Pale Skin And Fragile Bones; Sarcasm Is My Only Defense."

Stiles standing in a forest in Teen Wolf

Unlike his supernatural friends, Stiles doesn't have much he can offer in a fight, or many ways to defend himself and therefore he relies on sarcasm. What Stiles cannot offer in physical fighting skills, he can certainly offer in comedy.

This is one of Stiles' most memorable burns as it's a fairly accurate description of his character and shows that he can insult himself and make fun of himself and doesn't just do it to others. He is as quick to insult himself as he is anyone else.

Designated Planner

“This Is Why I Always Come Up With The Plans; Your Plans Suck.”

An image of Scott and Stiles standing together in Teen Wolf

Stiles says this to Scott after coming up with an unsuccessful plan. Scott's plans never seem to go his way throughout the show, and therefore Stiles is often the one coming up with them.

This is shady as Stiles is insisting that his best friend is horrible at making plans, which might be somewhat accurate, but is still brutal considering that Scott is his bestie. This shows that Stiles will wittily come for anyone, whether a close friend or a potential threat.

Detailed Threats

"I'm Gonna Break Off An Extra-Large Branch Of Mountain Ash, Wrap It In Wolfsbane, Roll It In Mistletoe, And Shove It Up Your Freaking ..."

Stiles Stilinski in Teen Wolf

When Scott asks Ethan for help, Ethan starts talking about killing people and glances over at Stiles while doing so, which Stiles takes as a threat, therefore responding with this line before being cut off by Scott.

This again proves that Stiles will happily use humor as a way of defending himself against potential danger as he believes Ethan wants to kill him and knows that he is capable of doing so but still resorts to threatening him back. This is quite the burn too, as both Ethan and the audience can imagine how painful this would be.

The First Wisecrack

“No, A Body Of Water. Yes, Dumbass, A Dead Body.”

Scott and Stiles hide in the woods in the Teen Wolf pilot.

This is Stiles' response after telling Scott that two joggers found a body in the woods and Scott asks if it is a dead body. This again shows Stiles' quick wit, as he is able to muster up a really funny line right off of the top of his head.

It is also a shady burn because he is essentially saying that Scott is stupid for even thinking to ask such a question while also making a joke despite the serious matter of a dead body being discovered.

Easy Bake

“No, You Stopped To Bake It In A Little Werewolf Oven.”

Scott and Stiles in a tense encounter in Teen Wolf.

This funny line comes from when Stiles suggests that the blood on Scott could be animal blood and that maybe he caught a rabbit and ate it, Scott asks if he ate it raw, and Stiles jokes that he stopped to bake it first.

This is another shady line, as he is once again implying that Scott is stupid as of course the rabbit would have been raw, and it's very on-brand to his character by making a joke of a serious situation as a way of defense and coping.

Seasonally Sarcastic

“An Abominable Snowman. But It's More Of A Wintertime Thing, You Know, Seasonal."

Stiles in the guidance counesllor's office in Teen Wolf

Literally all of Stiles' friends in Teen Wolf are supernatural of some kind, some are wolves, kitsune, banshee to name a few, but Stiles is just a normal everyday human. When asked what he turns into, he dishes out this burn.

This is an insult towards being asked, as it was just assumed that he must also be supernatural, but it is also another burn towards himself, as he makes up the most ridiculous answer that he can to label himself. It is also another instance of Stiles using his sense of humor as a line of defense.

Good Genes

“Someone Your Age Should Be Happy You Still Have Hair To Cut."

Sheriff Noah Stilinski stands in the police station in Teen Wolf

Stiles says this to his dad after he gets a haircut, which leads to Scott complimenting him and Sheriff Stilinski insisting that Scott is the son he should have had, which is a glimpse into perhaps where Stiles got his sense of humor from.

This is a particularly shady burn as it shows that even Stiles' own father won't be spared from his quick wit and need to always have a clever insult at hand. Stiles will dish out a burn to anyone in his life, family included. Although his dad goes along with the joke, showing that it runs in the family.

Non-Solitary Confinement

“You Spend Five Hours In The Car With Theo Raeken.”

Stiles and Theo in Teen Wolf

Stiles kills a chimaera, and Theo asks him what the punishment is for doing so, Stiles says that it's spending five hours in a car with him.

Stiles is quick to come back with a burn for Theo against the serious subject matter and basically insists that being around Theo is so unbearable and horrible that it is his punishment for murder. This stays consistent with Stiles' character and his need to respond with comedy.

The Dog Boy

"Slip-Up? A Dozen Calls To The Sheriff's Department About A "Monstrous Dog-Boy" Running Around The Streets Of Beacon Hills Naked. That's A Slip-Up?"

Liam looking angry in Teen Wolf.

This is what Stiles comes back with when Liam says that he had a slip-up, which clearly is an under exaggeration of the situation at hand even though he did cause quite a scene around the town.

Although he is mainly stating facts with this line, this is still typical Stiles shade, as instead of supporting Liam, he jumps to comedy and sarcasm, almost teasing him for what he did, calling him names in the process. This again shows that Stiles responds to all of the chaos around him by simply making it into a joke.
