Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Teen Wolf: The Movie.Teen Wolf: The Movie left some open-ended plot lines at the end of the film, thus opening the doors for a future possible Teen Wolf spinoff focused on Eli Hale. Teen Wolf: The Movie brought the audience back to Beacon Hills after the end of the show Teen Wolf in 2017. Given the nature of Teen Wolf and its plot, always focusing on a different villain or threat posed to the Californian town, it feels like there always will be space for a sequel as a new threat may resurface in Beacon Hills, no matter how final the ending of the series, or the movie, may feel.

While the future of Teen Wolf is unsure, the success that Teen Wolf: The Movie had in terms of viewership is an indication that a Teen Wolf spinoff sequel series may happen. Given that Teen Wolf began as a TV show and that popular opinion suggests the Teen Wolf movie should have been a series, a spinoff series seems like the most appropriate format to explore the future of Teen Wolf and all its characters. Moreover, if there is going to be a Teen Wolf spinoff, it makes the most sense that it would focus on Eli. In fact, there are various reasons why a Teen Wolf spinoff on Eli could work.

7 Eli's Spinoff Would Mimic Teen Wolf Season 1's Scott

Eli Hale In Teen Wolf Movie

The most evident reason why Eli should be the protagonist of a possible Teen Wolf spinoff is that Eli's journey as a werewolf has just started at the end of Teen Wolf: The Movie. During the movie, it is revealed that Eli cannot turn into a werewolf due to fear, which is true until Scott McCall helps him overcome this. Therefore, Eli's plot of accepting his werewolf side would mirror Scott's journey in the first season of Teen Wolf, when Scott was scared of his powers, unlike the Scott viewers see at the end of Teen Wolf: The Movie.

Similarly, a Teen Wolf spinoff centered on Eli would also allow the audience to gain more insight into the character himself. In fact, Eli is the only new character introduced for Teen Wolf: The Movie as Derek Hale's son. Therefore, the viewers know less about him compared to the rest of the Teen Wolf characters, most of whom have gone through a great deal of character development during the show. A spinoff on Eli could give him more character development and also explore one of the most interesting storylines regarding his character in Teen Wolf: The Movie: his fear of turning into a werewolf.

6 A New Spinoff Can Show Scott's Growth

As mentioned, throughout Teen Wolf, Scott has shown significant character development going from somebody who denied being a werewolf in Teen Wolf season 1 to the true alpha and leader of his pack in the Teen Wolf: The Movie ending, as confirmed by Derek's death. This would be even furthered showcased in a Teen Wolf spinoff focusing on Eli as Scott would be his mentor, just like Derek once was for Scott at the beginning of Teen Wolf. Similarly, the show could also further explore Scott and Allison's relationship, as the two reunite in Teen Wolf: The Movie.

5 The Spinoff Would Address Beacon Hills' Future

Furthermore, a Teen Wolf spinoff is also another chance to address the future of Beacon Hills, possibly with new characters. A spinoff focused on a new character could give Teen Wolf the chance to redirect its narrative to new characters and plots, instead of repeating the same plot that has been successful in the show during Teen Wolf: The Movie. Moreover, despite focusing on new characters, a Teen Wolf spinoff would maintain the familiarity of the Teen Wolf setting that viewers know and love, which is something that was explored with the lacrosse scene in Teen Wolf: The Movie.

4 The Teen Wolf Spinoff Can Solve The Movie's Biggest Problem

One of the biggest criticism that Teen Wolf: The Movie received was the outcome of the relationship between Lydia and Stiles. As one of the most beloved couples in Teen Wolf, it is understandable that many were not happy with their off-screen breakup in Teen Wolf: The Movie. In particular, there was an overall feeling that this did not make sense for the couple and for the characters the audience knows them to be. With a Teen Wolf spinoff, this could be further explained or even corrected, as Lydia and Stiles would surely be at least mentioned in Teen Wolf's future.

3 Eli's Spinoff Can Address The Movie's Big Unanswered Question

Eli Hale for Teen Wolf The Movie

One of the biggest mysteries left unanswered in Teen Wolf: The Movie is the identity of Eli's mother. While Derek seems to be a single parent to Eli, the identity of his mother is never mentioned nor questioned by any other character in Teen Wolf: The Movie. The mystery around Eli and Derek in the Teen Wolf film becomes even more evident at the end of Teen Wolf: The Movie with Derek's death. As the only parental figure in Eli's life passed away at the end of the film, the question of who his mother is and whether she will be involved in Eli's future is an even more pressing one.

2 The Eli Spinoff Would Carry Derek Hale's Legacy

As the ending of Teen Wolf: The Movie concluded Derek's story once and for all, there is a sense that Derek's legacy can still pass on, even if the character himself is now dead. Throughout Teen Wolf, Derek faced many traumatic events, including the death of his entire family in a fire, and went through a lot of character development. With Teen Wolf: The Movie, it seems like Derek never really got his happy ending, although this could finally happen as his legacy is carried on by his son in the future of Teen Wolf.

1 Focusing On Eli Would Center The Hale Family Again

Although Scott has always been the protagonist in Teen Wolf, another constant throughout the show has always been the focus on the Hale family. In fact, Teen Wolf starts with Peter Hale biting Scott as Scott and Stiles set out to investigate the truth about the fire that destroyed the Hale family and home. Similarly, many storylines and villains throughout Teen Wolf are connected to the Hale family and their background as a werewolf family. Focusing on Eli would allow a future Teen Wolf spinoff to have the focus on the Hale family again after Teen Wolf: The Movie, in true Teen Wolf style.
