Teen Wolf: The Movie has cast an actor to play Derek Hale's son. Loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name, Teen Wolf began as an MTV series in 2011 centered around Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, the titular teenage werewolf who defends the fictitious California town of Beacon Hills from supernatural creatures and other threats. Over its 6-season run, Teen Wolf featured a host of popular supporting characters, one of them being Derek Hale (portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin), a natural-born werewolf who initially develops a hostile relationship with Scott, though later becomes a valuable ally.

Last year, it was announced that a Teen Wolf movie was in the works exclusively for Paramount+. Showrunner Jeff Davis has returned to write the script along with much of the original cast who will be reprising their roles, including Posey, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, and Shelley Hennig in starring roles and Dylan Sprayberry, Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio, and JR Bourne in supporting roles. While it's currently unclear if Hoechlin will reprise the role of Derek, the movie will see the return of his flesh and blood.

TVLine reports that Teen Wolf: The Movie has cast actor Vince Mattis to play the role of Eli Hale, the 15-year-old son of Derek. The report also confirms the return of Ian Bohen as Derek's villainous uncle, Peter Hale. The Paramount+ movie is currently under production in Los Angeles.

Teen Wolf cast with Dylan O'Brien grayed out

Mattis is a 17-year-old actor, which makes him a suitable choice to play the role of Derek's teenage son. Despite his youth, Mattis has a few high-profile roles under his belt, including his screen debut as a character named Lumpy in 2018's Halloween. He's also appeared in Netflix's Mötley Crüe biopic, The Dirt, and the Blumhouse-produced horror film, American Refugee.

With so few details available, it's unclear exactly what purpose Derek's estranged son will play. It is known that the Teen Wolf movie will return to Beacon Hills, where a new terrifying threat has emerged under the illumination of a full moon, causing villains such as banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and other shapeshifters to reemerge. In response, Scott will have to recruit old and new allies to defeat them and emerge victorious. With most of its cast assembled, Teen Wolf: The Movie does not yet have a release date on Paramount+,  though it's shaping up to be an exciting revival for all fans to enjoy.
