Warner Brothers has indicated that they're moving forward with a live action Teen Titans film for the big screen. I'm not really into them myself although I understand the animated series is very popular.
The first thing that popped into my head when I read the news was "Why this instead of Justice League?" The only reason I can think that the studio is moving forward with this while a Justice League movie languishes undeveloped is that it will be easier to get this one made due to franchise/studio commitments with such major and well known characters.
Producer Akiva Goldsman stated that the tone of the movie will be consistent with such recent WB movies as Batman Begins, Superman Returns and the upcoming Watchmen. That's a pretty interesting statement since all three of these films have wildly different styles. :-) I guess what he means is that they'll be giving it a "realistic" treatment instead of making it campy? Then again what recent superhero movies have NOT treated their subject matter seriously?
Mark Verheiden is writing the screenplay. His prior writing gigs include Smallville and Battlestar Galactica, so maybe we're in for a good story?
I'd still rather see a full blown Justice League movie, but I'll probably have grandkids by the time that one gets made...
