Powerpuff Girls Reboot Clip Princess

Over the years, Cartoon Network has brought a number of beloved animated shows to viewers. Some of its current offerings, such as The Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans GO!, are reboots of these shows that bring the characters to new audiences in new ways.

The network has plans to bring these two properties together in a crossover, and has released a first look at the characters all together. Plot details for the episode have also been revealed, giving us an idea of what we can expect when the Teen Titans and the Powerpuff Girls cross paths.

The sneak peek comes courtesy of USA Today, and features our first look at Teen Titans Raven, Robin and Starfire together with Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup. According to Powerpuff Girls executive producer Nick Jennings:

"Jump City will never be the same when our little superheroes Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup meet up with the Teen Titans for the very first time. When these two worlds of superheroes collide, it will surely be something to remember."

The crossover will hit the air in June. The producers of Teen Titans GO! are very happy with how it has come together, and how well the two teams work together onscreen. Producer Aaron Horvath said:

"It's a really fun crossover that came about in a very organic way, and it was really great getting to put these two iconic superhero teams together.”

Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans GO! cross over on Cartoon Network

The crossover will feature the Powerpuff Girls arriving in the Titans' home of Jump City, following the villainous monkey Mojo Jojo. Unfortunately, Beast Boy and Cyborg (who are notably absent from the sneak peek pic) think that Mojo is "pretty cool for a talking monkey." The Powerpuff Girls then begin competing with the Teen Titans to see which team has the better heroes, presumably while Mojo enacts his evil scheme. It's also been reported that the crossover will contain a song called "Monkey Army" that is expected to get stuck in fans' heads.

The idea of the Teen Titans and the Powerpuff Girls meeting up is a fun one. It seems like a good time for it, too, since we've just seen Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War on the big screen. It almost seems like a parody of the big-screen beat-em-ups that usually occur when different heroes meet for the first time, with the teams in question hitting competitive streaks instead of coming to blows before uniting to take down the real villain.

Not everyone who was a fan of the old Teen Titans likes Teen Titans GO!, and that's understandable; there are some pretty major differences between the art styles and the content, with GO! very obviously intended as a series of comedy shorts while Teen Titans was a more standard animated series. On the plus side, the Powerpuff Girls wouldn't have fit in with the world of the old Titans, so if not for the change then this crossover would never have happened.
