Nicolas Cage's dream of playing Superman will finally come true, as he'll voice the character for Teen Titans GO! To The Movies. Cage's Superman fandom isn't much of a secret; he once owned a rare copy of the hero's 1938 debut comic, and he named his son Kal-El in honor of Superman's Kryptonian name. He was also infamously attached to Tim Burton's Superman Lives, which has become one of the most infamous unmade comic book movies of all time.
The movie was loosely based on The Death of Superman comic storyline and would have found Superman - who is struggling to fit in on Earth - facing off against Lex Luthor, Brainiac and Doomsday. Like the comic, he's killed in battle with the latter villain, only to get resurrected later in the movie. The film was ultimately cancelled due to rising costs and concerns over the script. Lots of outlandish photos and concept art have emerged from the project, which either would have a total mess or one of the most unique superhero features ever made.

While Cage never got to play his favorite hero on the big screen, USA Today reports that he will voice Superman in the upcoming animated film Teen Titans GO! To The Movies. This spin-off of the popular Cartoon Network show finds the title characters - including Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire - heading to Hollywood in hopes of getting a movie made about their adventures. Along the way, they will encounter other superheroes like Superman, Wonder Woman (Halsey) and Green Lantern (Lil Yachty).
While reactions to the Teen Titans GO! To The Movies teaser trailer was mixed, hopefully, the movie will be able to capture the manic energy and sense of fun of the show. Outside of Superman Lives, Cage hasn't had much luck with comic book films in general. He was in talks to play the Scarecrow in Joel Schumacher's unmade Batman Unchained, he left the role of Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, and was once attached to Constantine and Iron Man comic book adaptations.
Cage did, however, play the title role in both Ghost Rider movies, and while he was delightfully hammy in them, the films themselves were a massive disappointment to fans. Cage fared much better playing Big Daddy in Kick-Ass, where he channelled Adam West's Batman as a crazed vigilante.
Sadly, Cage has mostly been confined to straight to DVD movies in recent years - though his recent performances in both Mom And Dad and Mandy have drawn strong reviews. Hopefully, he will be granted a big screen comeback sometime soon, especially when audiences finally get a taste of his take on Superman in Teen Titans GO! To The Movies.
