In the pages of DC Comics and the Teen Titans animated world, few characters are more mysterious than Red X. In a new cosplay, cosplayer @tim_risafi brings the villain/antihero to life in a pitch-perfect ensemble that brings the hero to life in menacing detail. There have been few better times for a Red X cosplay, as the character is on the rise once again in the comics.
Red X was the creation of Dick Grayson, who wore the costume to disguise himself in the Teen Titans animated series in his pursuit of Deathstroke. However, after abandoning the costume, a new Red X in the DC Universe rose, becoming an antihero and sometimes villain and a primary antagonist to the popular superteam. In the comics, a new Red X made his debut during the Future State event and appeared in the recently concluded Teen Titans series. While the fourth Red X's identity was revealed, the old version of Red X, who sported the mantle after Dick Grayson, made a surprise return and will play a role in the upcoming War for Earth-3 event.
On his Instagram account, @tim_risafi shared his take on Red X that he wore during the most recent Katsucon. The cosplay captures the Teen Titans villain/antihero's look, as the costume brilliantly brings the character from the small screen and comics to the real world. The details in the cosplay are fantastic, as @tim_risafi created his own black and chiseled armor, as he sports Red X's black cape, wields an x-shaped Xarang, and of course, wears his iconic white skull-like helmet with the red X across it.
Red X has surprisingly few appearances in the main DC canon, but that seems destined to change with the recent revelation regarding the second (and eviler) version of the character coming back in the comics. The version of Red X seems much more villainous than ever before and will surely be a problem for the Teen Titans as they visit Earth-3 in the upcoming event.
The fan-favorite Teen Titans character has an incredibly striking look, especially with the giant Red X on his white helmet. @tim_risafi did a fantastic job assembling the costume and creating a cosplay that does the character justice. The Teen Titans cosplay proves that Red X remains one of DC's coolest characters. It's fun to see him being utilized more in the comics.
