MTV has released another season of Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant with four new moms as they navigate the challenges of being a mother and a teenager. The new season is unlike any other as the moms are filming together, not separately like the moms of the original 16 & Pregnant were required.

Since the franchise's controversial premier in 2009, the four original teen moms have grown up before the eyes of television viewers, with most staying on MTV to film Teen Mom OG and the new Teen Mom The Next Chapter. However, some original moms have moved on to other careers in the spotlight or focused on motherhood with no cameras.

Farrah Abraham

Farrah Abraham

Farrah Abraham may be the most controversial teen mom of all and was involved in some of the most dramatic storylines in Teen Mom history. Since her time on the show, Farrah has embraced the role of reality television personality and has participated in other MTV shows like Ex On The Beach. According to her Instagram (@farrahabraham), she is about to embark on a stand-up comedy tour.

Farrah has faced lots of controversy over her past as a sex worker and her choices of plastic surgery. More recently, Farrah came under fire for being arrested for assault in January of 2022, as reported by People. However, it doesn't seem to bother Farrah as she continues to post content highlighting her new endeavors, celebrating her sobriety, and adventures with her only child Sophia, who is now thirteen. Farrah does not appear in any seasons of Teen Mom OG as she left the show in 2018. Farrah has stated on her Instagram that she will no longer work for MTV as their views no longer align after Teen Mom: Family Reunion.

Maci Bookout McKinney

Teen Mom's Maci Bookout and Son Bentley

Maci Bookout became one of the most memorable cast members on Teen Mom as she was the first mom to give birth on the show. After having her son Bentley in season 1, Maci gave birth to her daughter Jayde in 2015 and her son Maverick in 2016. Maci married her husband, Taylor McKinney, during season six in 2016. Maci has several projects in the works outside of filming the new season of Teen Mom The Next Chapter, which will combine the cast of Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2.

Maci is currently heading her clothing company, Things That Matter, and often posts new items being added to her Instagram (@macideshanebookout) and focuses on supporting her kids in sports. While Maci is still committed to the Teen Mom franchise, she doesn't depend on the show as her only source of income. The U.S. Sun reports that Maci and her husband are delving into real estate. Maci has grown from a teen struggling to cope with life's challenges to a full-fledged businesswoman.

Catelynn Lowell Baltierra

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra from Teen Mom OG

Catelynn Lowell has shared her struggles with mental health and being a young mom on and off the show. Catelynn and Tyler were the only couple to give their child up for adoption in the first season. This was a groundbreaking move as much of the show and promotion around it made viewers think all of the mothers would be raising their children themselves. Catelynn and Tyler's decision to put daughter Carly up for adoption continues to be a big storyline in the latest seasons as they have an agreement to see Carly. Catelynn and Tyler's openness has helped Teen Mom OG become one of the best MTV reality shows.

Catelynn has become an advocate for moms putting themselves first and taking time to heal their mental health. Outside of being on MTV, Catelynn works as a semi-permanent makeup artist, according to her Instagram (@catelynnmtv). Catelynn has started her blog, Cate Magazine, which focuses on her political viewers and motivation to heal mental health. Catelynn and Tyler recently welcomed their fourth child together.

Amber Portwood

Teen Mom OG Amber Portwood

Amber Portwood has had one of the show's most emotional and sometimes controversial experiences on the show. Amber has been devoted to treating her borderline personality disorder and rebuilding her relationship with her daughter Leah, who was born on the show. Amber has become an advocate for people going to therapy and getting the help they need; this includes her daughter and Gary, who co-parents Leah with her.

Outside of her struggles with Gary and their co-parenting, according to The U.S. Sun, Amber recently went through a difficult custody battle with her boyfriend Andrew, who she had her son James with three years ago. But this wasn't the first time Amber faced legal troubles. Amber was arrested for assault against Gary and served 17 months of a five-year sentence. However, Amber and Gary are in a much better place in their relationship but always put Leah's well-being as a priority. Amber has dedicated her social media (@amberportwood_1) to growth and acts more as an influence blog than a promotional tool for the show. Amber rarely posts about the show, despite being fully involved in the latest seasons.
