Teen Mom OG star Catelynn Lowell supports the idea of a spinoff show with her daughter that she put up for adoption. MTV’s original Teen Mom, Catelynn Lowell and her husband Tyler Baltierra are continuously working on having a meaningful relationship with their 10-year-old daughter, Carly, and the idea of a spinoff show seemed an interesting way to do it.
Catelynn and Tyler gave their birth daughter up for adoption back in 2009 when they were only 17, as both teens had felt that they were not prepared or equipped to raise a baby at their age. They also had no family support around them in regard to putting the baby up for adoption, which was documented on 16 and Pregnant. Back in 2017, Tyler and Catelynn did have a spinoff show, but it was canceled by MTV before it got off the ground. The show was titled Reunited, and it documented real-life people who wanted to find their long-lost relatives. Catelynn and Tyler were the hosts who would become detectives in tracking down these lost family members. The first episode aired after the season six finale of Teen Mom and was number two in the ratings. Ultimately, MTV believed the show was too heavy and decided not to continue with the project.
According to Pop Culture, there are talks among the MTV Teen Mom OG community of a spinoff that would center around Carly’s relationship with her birth parents, Tyler and Catelynn. The Teen Mom OG star seems to be in support of the idea of a show that would show Carly forming new relationships with her birth parents. She recently retweeted a fan’s post on Twitter that was encouraging a follow up story. Check out the tweet below:
Recently, both Teen Mom OG stars got a chance to visit with their adopted daughter. This visit has been a long time coming as fans will remember that both Catelynn and Tyler haven’t seen Carly in a couple of years, and during the episode, the two reality stars spoke with their adoption counselor, Dawn, acknowledging that they both dropped the ball when it comes to sending presents to Carly and keeping in touch.
Carly’s adoptive parents, Branden and Teresa Davis, have been very strict with not wanting their daughter in the public eye. This attitude has often clashed with Tyler and Catelynn’s openness towards the adoption and the impact it had on them growing up. It seems it is too soon to say whether MTV will come out with a follow-up show around Carly’s life, and viewers will just have to keep watching season 8 of Teen Mom OG for updates.
New episodes of Teen Mom OG air Mondays at9pm EST on MTV.
