Apple renewed their beloved new comedy, Ted Lasso, for season 3 before the cameras have started rolling on season 2. The comedy series premiered on Apple TV+ in August 2020. It was met with a warm reception from critics and audiences alike, currently resting at a fresh 86 percent critical and 98 percent audience rating, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes. Following its freshman season, the series was renewed for season 2 on the streaming service.

Ted Lasso began as a fictional character utilized in sports promos when NBC Sports acquired the broadcast of the Premier League, England's renowned football league system. The series, which sees Jason Sudeikis playing the character yet again, follows an American football league coach who is hired to manage a struggling football team in London. The series stars Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, and Juno Temple. While fans were already excited about the series getting a season 2 renewal, it appears the comedy will be getting a season 3 as well.

According to TVLine, the Apple TV+ comedy, Ted Lasso, has already been given the green light for season 3 before season 2 has begun filming. Season 2 doesn't start production for a few months, so this news will come as a pleasant surprise to fans of the series. According to Apple, the series has become the streaming service's number one comedy, with its viewership increasing by 600 percent since its debut in August.

Apple TV+ has been showing continued support for its lineup of original series. In addition to Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, another one of the service's most popular shows, was renewed for season two, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. The streaming platform will also be delivering new seasons of Servant, which comes from M. Night Shyamalan, Dickinson, and For All Mankind, which premiered a new trailer for season 2 back in July.

Ted Lasso is a pure delight in every sense of the word, delivering sharp writing, wonderful performances, especially from Sudeikis, and consistent laughs anchored by heart, ultimately making the comedy series a winner for the streaming service. Hearing that Apple has such faith in the series is a welcome surprise, considering it's unusual for a series to get picked up for another season before the next has even begun to film. Still, the show appears to be a massive hit with audiences. If the series can continue to put up the kind of numbers as season 1, it's not hard to imagine Ted Lasso sticking around past season 3 on Apple TV+.
