Nick Mohammed talks about how Ted Lasso season 3 will be different for Nate following his transfer from AFC Richmond to West Ham United. At the beginning of Apple TV's hit series, Nathan Shelley is a kit man for AFC Richmond before the football club's new coach, the titular Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), takes him under his wing and eventually names him an assistant coach. Despite his lack of confidence, Nate thrives in the position due to his knowledge and passion for the game.

In season 2, Nate grows resentful of Ted for his perceived lack of recognition, which he later confronts him about. At the end of the season 2, Nate leaves his post as an assistant to become head coach of West Ham United, a rival Premier League club recently purchased by Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head), the former owner of AFC Richmond who lost his ownership stake during his divorce settlement with his ex-wife, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham). Plot details for Ted Lasso season 3 are scarce, though season 2's shocking cliffhanger is expected to set the stage for what will likely be the final season of the show.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Nick Mohammed teased what's next for his character in Ted Lasso season 3. The Emmy-nominated actor was asked about what viewers can expect to see from Nate's new team, and while he wasn't able to reveal much, he did talk about his scenes with Anthony Head's Rupert and revealed he hasn't been back to the Richmond locker room since the season 2 finale. Read what Mohammed shared below:

I'm not being coy. I can't really comment too much on it, but yes, he's at West Ham. What has been great is that I've been able to have some scenes with Anthony, who plays Rupert. He's just a wonderful man, and possibly the one who is least like their character. He is such a sweetheart, compared to Rupert, who is so toxic. That has been joyful.

That's been the biggest take home from the early stuff that we've been shooting. We're midway through, and naturally I've not been in the Richmond locker room. It feels strange, because all those guys and gals are my friends. We're not always filming together, and that's a shame. I've been trying to channel some of that loneliness a little bit into Nate, because I think he does feel a bit bereft. But I will stop speaking, because I will give too much away.

Ted Lasso Nate & Ted

Throughout the course of Ted Lasso season 2, Nate went from a fan-favorite underdog to public enemy number one, starting with him mistreating AFC Richmond's new kit man, Will (Charlie Hiscock), to him exposing Ted's panic attacks to the media for his own personal benefit. Clearly, season 3 will look very different for Nate as he won't be spending nearly any time with his former mentor, Ted, as he is now head coach of a football club overseen by Rupert, who Nate should have plenty of scenes with early on in season 3, as Mohammed confirms. But as the football season progresses, Ted and Nate are destined for a dramatic reunion as their clubs face off against one another on the pitch.

Another notable part of Mohammed's comments is that Ted Lasso is halfway through shooting season 3, which began filming this past March. If the show sticks to its current pace, it should wrap filming around September. This means that Ted Lasso season 3 could premiere its first episode on Apple TV before the end of the year, as some involved with the show have hoped. In the meantime, Mohammed can be seen alongside his Ted Lasso co-star Phil Dunster in the short film, Pragma, which is expected to be released this month.
