According to actor Nick Mohammed (via Decider), production may begin for Ted Lasso season 2 as early as January 2021. In that case, Apple TV+ could presumably release new episodes later in the year. Ted Lasso season 1 on Apple TV+ ends with heartbreak, as AFC Richmond nearly saves their Premier League status but ends up losing to Manchester City. Sudeikis' character learns a valuable lesson about English football strategy, as he realizes that a mere tie will allow him to avoid relegation. Unfortunately, though, he celebrates a match-tying goal too soon and fails to properly manage his players in the immediate aftermath. Thanks to a strong business relationship with Rebecca, however, Ted manages to keep his job and urges the team to focus on the future.
Moving forward, Ted Lasso season 2 will seemingly be a redemption story, at least if the writers take a traditional storytelling approach. What's especially intriguing, though, is the idea that the narrative focus won't necessarily be on AFC Richmond's potential promotion, but rather on the development of the characters and their personal lives. Whatever the case, expect Ted to be much more informed about English football during Ted Lasso season 2.
