Summary

  • "Ted Lasso season 2 introduces Nora, Rebecca's goddaughter, who brings youthful enthusiasm and a sassy attitude to the show."
  • "Nora's debut episode showcases her close relationship with Rebecca and her integration into the everyday life of the AFC Richmond football team."
  • "Despite being a newcomer to acting, Kiki May delivers a hilarious and scene-stealing performance as Nora, leading to future opportunities in other projects like 'The Great'."

The Ted Lasso Nora character debuted in the season 2 episode, "Do the Right-est Thing." That specific episode juggled multiple storylines revolving around AFC Richmond, such as Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) getting the team to accept Jamie Tartt's (Phil Dunster) return as Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) protests Dubai Air. But Ted Lasso season 2 featured the debut of a character the show has only teased in the past, introducing the subplot of Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) caring for her goddaughter Nora. That also wasn't the last that Ted Lasso saw of Nora.

Rebecca repaired her relationship with Nora, a relationship she'd let languish for years, being caught up in her terrible marriage. Although Rebecca initially tried to treat Nora as if she were still a child, she eventually learned that the best way to make sure Nora had fun was to include her in the normal, everyday life of the owner of the AFC Richmond football team. This included bringing Nora to work, letting her sit in meetings, and even meeting the entire team - including her favorite player, Sam. While Nora never appeared again after the second season, she still left an impression on fans.

Who Is Nora In Ted Lasso?

Rebecca and Nora in Ted Lasso.

Season 1 of Ted Lasso teased Nora and the close relationship Rebecca used to have with her, but she never appeared before. "Do the Right-est Thing" is where viewers finally got to meet Nora, who was played by newcomer Kiki May. In addition to providing a glimpse at the spark between Rebecca and Nora that made them so close in the past, Nora's debut gave the show an injection of youthful enthusiasm. Audiences are already enamored with Kiki May's hilarious and scene-stealing performance, with her sassy attitude upstaging even the most seasoned actors in the episode.

Nora also appeared on the show in the great episode, "No Weddings and a Funeral." This episode focused on Rebecca and the death of her father. Nora was back and helped Rebecca deal with the loss, including the fan-favorite moment where she and Sassy sang "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley. Those curious about what else May has been in will likely be surprised to learn that this Apple TV+ series was her first credited acting role, making Ted Lasso a remarkable debut for the bright young star.

Kiki May's Career Before & After Ted Lasso

While Ted Lasso was Kiki May's first listed acting role, she has moved on to appear in another movie and then took on a recurring role in a popular Hulu series. She played a role known only as "Paper Girl" in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. The autobiographical film chronicling the life of artist Louis Wan stars Benedict Cumberbatch and several other notable English actors, including The Crown's Claire Foy, Loki's Sophia Di Martino, Toby Jones, and Andrea Riseborough. The Electrical Life of Louis Wain released on Prime Video in 2021.

Between that and her role as Nora on Ted Lasso, Kiki May picked up an even bigger role. While she never became a recurring character on Ted Lasso after the second season, she did pick up a recurring role on another huge series - this one on Hulu. May stars as Nadia on The Great. This is the series that stars Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great and a fictional retelling of her rise to power in Russia. May was a recurring cast member in season 2 and a guest star in season 3. While Ted Lasso and Nora was the start of her career, it seems like big things are to come for Kiki May.
