Jason Sudeikis' irrepressibly friendly football coach is back in Ted Lasso season 2, which returned to Apple TV+ on Friday, July 23rd, 2021. As with season 1, new episodes of Ted Lasso will release on a weekly basis, but this time AFC Richmond and their manager will be around for a slightly longer run.

Created by Sudeikis along with Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt (who co-stars as Coach Beard), Ted Lasso has made its mark as one of Apple TV+'s most popular original shows. Sudeikis plays the titular character, Ted Lasso, an American football coach who is hired as the new manager for a British soccer team despite knowing almost nothing about the sport. In Ted Lasso season 1, Ted rose above sabotage attempts from the club's owner and skepticism from the press and fans to become a beloved leader to the scattered and directionless team.

Following Ted Lasso's season 2 premiere, new episodes of the comedy series will release on Apple TV+ every Friday at 12am PT / 3am ET / 8am BST. There will be 12 episodes in total, with Ted Lasso's season 2 finale releasing on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Ted Lasso has already been renewed for season 3, with Apple TV+ announcing the news before season 2 even began filming. The comedy series was a much-needed hit, as Apple TV+ has struggled to match the libraries of streaming competitors like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime. When Ted Lasso season 1 premiered in August 2020, its optimism and heartwarming humor was perfectly pitched for an audience seeking some uplifting escapism from life in a global pandemic, and positive word of mouth has helped the show's audience to grow since then.

Similarly, the new season of Ted Lasso may be the pick-up that English soccer fans need this summer, after the England team made it all the way to Final of the the UEFA European Football Championship - the first major final for a men's team in 55 years - only to lose to Italy in the penalty kick shootout. It was a mix of triumph and heartbreak that mirrored Ted Lasso's season 1 finale, and new episodes of Ted Lasso season 2 on Apple TV+ will hopefully bring a welcome reminder that success isn't always about winning or losing.

An Apple TV+ subscription currently costs $4.99 per month, with the streaming service offering a seven-day free trial. New episodes of Ted Lasso season 2 will release every Friday from now until October 8th.
