Ted Lasso makes an addition to the cast of the second season, casting the football team's psychologist. The Apple TV+ series centers around an American college football coach hired to head a football team in the United Kingdom, despite not being familiar with England's version of football. The show stars Jason Sudeikis, who reprises the title character from a series of sports commercials for NBC Sports that aired during the Premier League back in 2013.

The series became an immediate success for the streaming service to the point where a third season has already been ordered before the second has even premiered. The show also won Sudeikis his first Golden Globe Award and was nominated in the comedy series category at the same awards show. It has also been reported that the second season of the show may be longer than expected, and now fans can look forward to another addition to the cast that includes Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, and Brendan Hunt.

According to TVLine, Sarah Niles will be joining the show as a series regular in the role of Sharon, a sports psychologist who is brought in to work with Roy Kent & Co. Niles is a well-known British actress who has performed mainly in theatre but has appeared in British television shows, such as I May Destroy You and Viewpoint. She has also played in the comedy sandbox appearing in Catastrophe and Beautiful People.

Ted Lasso points both his fingers at someone in Ted Lasso.

With a psychologist joining the sports team, fans are knowing more about the story of the second season and will probably get a deeper insight into the characters of Ted Lasso. Niles' regular role implies that her character of Sharon has a tremendous impact on the upcoming season and may be able to spring some comedic moments and stories with the show's other characters.

While fans now have an idea of where the second season might be headed, there is still much more to be found out. The second season of Ted Lasso is already at least a third complete with filming, so it is getting much nearer to completing production and releasing on Apple TV+. However, a premiere date has not been announced. But fans are counting down the clock and with the casting of Niles, who has had her share with comedies, it will be exciting to see what she brings to the table and to the season as a medical counselor to the comedically flawed team.
