As a heartwarming, multi-Emmy-nominated new series, Ted Lasso has captured the hearts of viewers ever, as have other shows like Ted Lasso that came before it. With a cast headed up by Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis, the series is filmed in England and features a cast of relative unknowns within North America.
With that said, every actor is brilliant and brings something special to their respective role. And while some of them might not have been hugely popular in North America before being cast on the series, many do have an already large (and growing) social media following. Interestingly, Sudeikis himself does not have an official Instagram account, nor does Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate. But plenty of others from the show do.
Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo) – 12,000 Followers
A member of the AFC Richmond team, Isaac had some notable scenes, including being appointed the team's new captain, dealing with losing his mojo for the game, and, of course, the slick hair-cutting scene with Sam and the team.
In real life, actor Bokinni has a decent number of followers on Instagram, especially impressive considering he has only ever made 54 posts. On his Instagram, the actor promotes his role in Ted Lasso as well as other high-profile series, including Top Boy and Black Mirror. He posts mainly stills from his roles with the odd personal pic thrown in for good measure, ranging from posed pics to candid selfies.
Jeremy Swift (Higgins) – 14,100 Followers (unverified account)
While the account is not verified, the selfies and other photos suggest that this really is Swift's true Instagram account, and clearly, at least 14,100 followers believe so as well. In addition to stills from Ted Lasso, he posts a few screenshots and other images.
One image is of the list of Emmy nominees for 2021, showing his name for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. The accolades aren't surprising given that Higgins is one of the funniest characters on Ted Lasso. Another photo is of him holding a certificate that went along with his Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for the show.
Stephen Manas (Richard) – 28,600 Followers
Describing himself as both an actor and a musical composer, and promoting his Cameo account and IMDb page, Manas posts lots of photos to promote Ted Lasso, from photos of the gang out and about to image stills, magazine covers, and more.
Scroll down a bit and Manas has posted some very cool mosaic images of himself using a total of 8-12 square post blocks to display the full photo. They really are a marvel to see.
Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya) – 32,000 Followers
Sam can do no wrong, as many of the funny memes about Ted Lasso suggest. Indeed, the actor who plays Sam has plenty of real-life fans who follow him even though he has only posted 71 times. Promoting the Anthony Walker Foundation in his bio, an organization that tackles racism and hate crimes and works to build "safer, stronger, thriving places to live," most of his posts relate to Ted Lasso.
The photos include stills from the series, screengrabs of nominations, awards, and articles, and promotional materials for other projects he has been in.
Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) – 32,000 Followers
With 122 posts, Dunster, like the others, posts plenty of photos from the set and stills from episodes of Ted Lasso. He also has plenty of posed photos wearing fashionable outfits and making model-like poses.
Throughout the posts are a few stylized black and whites as well as images from other roles he's had over the years. Dunster's bio promotes Pragma, a short romantic comedy he produced about a young woman who joins a post-graduate program centered around partnering with the intention of learning how to love, according to the Kickstarter page.
Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) – 34,000 Followers
Ted Lasso's trusty sidekick and co-coach, Hunt plays the role beautifully, including all of Coach Beard's quirks. He is one of the more active cast members on Twitter with 637 posts to date at the time of this writing.
His account focuses mainly on personal photos, including him out and about at sporting events and with friends and family. There are plenty of photos of him with his wife and baby: he became a new dad this year, according to Romper.
Cristo Fernandez (Dani Rojas) – 34,000 Followers
One of the most likable characters from the series, Fernandez brings the laughs whenever Dani is on screen. He is active on Instagram with more than 670 posts, while also following quite a few people: almost 3,500.
In addition to images from Ted Lasso, including behind-the-scenes selfies, awards show appearances, and more, Fernandez posts photos of himself at various events and a cute cartoon of his likeness with the words "Futbol is Life!" above his head.
Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton) – 120,000 Followers
Even with only 176 posts to date, Waddingham has the third-highest number of followers from everyone on the show. Along with images highlighting recent episodes of the show as well as her own TV appearances, she posts fun personal photos of herself out on the town.
There are also posed images from magazine articles, photos from Ted Lasso, and a few funny or meaningful memes or images here and there. Fans might not realize that, among other projects the cast of Ted Lasso has been in, Waddingham played Septa Unella in Game of Thrones, notable for her appearance in the episode that featured Cersei's walk of shame.
Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) – 139,000 Followers
He might rarely be seen with a smile as Roy, who has some of the best quotes on Ted Lasso. But in real life, Goldstein, who also writes for Ted Lasso, is a much more pleasant personality. He promotes both his Twitter account and his Apple Podcast, Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein, in his bio on Instagram.
With 719 posts to date, Goldstein has the most activity of any cast member, including posting links to each episode of his podcast, which features celebrity guests like Maisie Williams, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Patton Oswalt.
Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) – 254,000 Followers
It's like life imitating art that Temple has the most followers of all the cast members, seeing as she plays somewhat of a social media celebrity who is "famous for being famous" on the series. She has posted 656 times, including plenty of stills from Ted Lasso.
