Perhaps the most talked-about new comedy on television is Ted Lasso. The series just ended its second season, and while it was a bit of a mixed reaction, it continues to be a funny and heartwarming show.

Ted Lasso features a great mix of both clever humor and touching relationships. This great balance can be best seen in some of the show's most memorable quotes. There are plenty of hilarious lines that will have fans laughing out loud as well as some inspiring quotes that will warm their hearts and make them think.

Dani: "Football Is Life."

Though introduced as a late addition to the team, Dani Rojas quickly became a fan favorite. Not only is he an exceptionally talented soccer player, but he also matches Ted himself in terms of enthusiasm. Dani even has his own catchphrase with "Football is life."

At first, it seems like just a funny saying that emphasizes the young man's passion for the sport. But it also touches on the themes of the show over time. While football is just a small part of life, Ted is teaching these players how to achieve great things on and off the field.

Roy: "Don't You Dare Settle For Fine."

Though he can be quite gruff and isn't often a fan of sharing his feelings, Roy Kent proves to be a tough guy with a big heart. And as much as he tries to hide it from others, there are times where he cannot help but be a really sweet person and one of Ted Lasso's biggest romantics.

After Roy joins Keely on a double date with Rebecca and her new boyfriend, Roy gives Rebecca some aggressive and honest words of wisdom about finding happiness. He explains that Rebecca should not settle for someone who is "fine" but rather find someone who deserves to be with her.

Ted: "Be A Goldfish, Sam."

Sam attends a press conference in Ted Lasso.

Though Ted might not know much about the game of soccer when he first starts coaching, he does have a talent for figuring out his players. He can see when they are getting inside their own heads too much and often has very simple and helpful advice to help them out.

After Sam makes a mistake on the field and gets hard on himself, Ted explains to him that the happiest creature on the planet is a goldfish because of its short memory. Ted then suggests Sam "be a goldfish" and move past his mistakes. It is advice more people should live by.

Jamie: "Coach, I'm Me. Why Would I Want To Be Anything Else?"

Jamie Tartt has had a very enjoyable character evolution in Ted Lasso so far. He was quite obnoxious and arrogant in the beginning, but Ted clearly saw something in him and knew he could be better.

As a way to connect with Jamie, he asks him if he would rather be a panda or a lion. But Jamie reasons that he wouldn't want to be anything else if he could simply be Jamie Tartt. Though it is a self-centered answer, Ted also points out it is probably healthier psychologically than Jamie even realizes.

Ted: "If You're Comfortable While You're Doing It, Probably Doing It Wrong."

Part of the charm of the character of Ted Lasso is his endless metaphors that serve as life lessons for those around him. While they are often long-winded ways of making a very simple point, it's hard not to see them as rather endearing.

Even in seemingly dire situations where the odds are against him, Ted seems to always look on the bright side. When talking about the many obstacles he faces in his new job, Ted believes facing challenges is like horse riding in that it is meant to be uncomfortable.

Ted: "He Thinks He's Mad Now, Wait Till We Win Him Over."

The idea of an American football coach coming to coach a soccer team in England is immediately laughable and Ted isn't exactly welcomed with open arms. Even those who will later become his friends are quite hostile to him.

When Ted gets the chance to talk one-on-one with Roy for the first time, Roy is typically blunt with his words and sees Ted as a joke. Ted is not shaken by Roy's harsh words at all. In his ever-optimistic way of seeing things, Ted laments that Roy is going to be even angrier once he warms to Ted, which ended up being quite true.

Roy: "It Hurt My Feeling."

Roy is another character who goes through a lot of changes over the course of the two seasons. But while he is very open with Keely, he still has trouble sharing his feelings with others, especially Ted and the other coaching staff.

However, in the second season finale, Roy reluctantly seeks the help of the support group known as the Diamond Dogs. He explains that the photoshoot with Keely ended up cutting him out and admits "It hurt my feeling." Not only is it sweet he was able to share that, but it is hilarious that he suggests he only has one singular feeling.

Ted: "Looks Like A Renaissance Painting Portraying Masculine Melancholy."

Though the divisive second season of Ted Lasso ventured into some more serious territory, there were still plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. One of the best comes during the finale as the team gathers in the locker room after a dismal first half of the game.

Even Ted knows the situation is dire and as he looks out at his depressed team, he remarks that they look like "a Renaissance painting portraying masculine melancholy." It is a hilarious description but is made even funnier with the cutaway to the players posing in a sad tableau.

Ted: "Be Curious, Not Judgemental."

Despite what fans might think of the show, it is hard to deny that Ted Lasso is a feel-good bit of entertainment. A lot of that comes from the titular character and his positive view of the world. And in one of the show's best moments, that point of view is made clear.

When facing off in a dart game with Rebecca's slimy ex-husband, Rupert, Ted begins explaining his philosophy. He describes seeing a Walt Whitman quote that said, "Be curious, not judgemental" and took that on as his personal motto. He further explains that, had Rupert been curious about Ted, rather than judgemental, he would have known Ted was an expert dart player.

Ted: "I Always Figured Tea Was Going To Taste Like Hot Brown Water. And You Know What? I Was Right."

Ted tries tea for the first time on Ted Lasso

Seeing this bubbly Texan arrive in England set the show up for a lot of great fish-out-of-water humor. And while they wisely don't lean too heavily on that stuff, it is a lot of fun seeing Ted navigate British customs. He maintains that positive attitude with most things, but he draws the line at tea.

When meeting Rebecca, he decides it would be appropriate to try tea for the first time. After taking a sip, he remarks that his assumption of it being "hot brown water" was dead right and his hateful relationship with the beverage begins.
