Ted Lasso is a recently released Apple TV+ series and it has already become incredibly popular as more fans have watched and rewatched the series on the streaming service. There are several lovable characters on the optimistic show and although there are more serious and dramatic moments, overall the show is a comedy.

Each character on the show has a fun and unique personality and has had their own hilarious moments. That includes side characters on the AFC Richmond team to the more main characters. Some stood out as the funniest of the bunch on Ted Lasso so far.

Leslie Higgins

Higgins is part of the Richmond AFC team and a fun character, but he's ranked lower when compared to the other hilarious characters on the show for a few reasons.

Higgins can always provide a nervous and relatable comedic vibe to a scene whether he's having a difficult time lying to Ted or he's tripping over his words in front of his boss Rebecca or he's simply talking about his family and cat.

Dani Rojas

Dani Rojas only appeared in a few episodes of the first season, but he certainly made an impression and will be returning for the second season. Dani provides an even more cheerful presence in the already optimistic show.

It's difficult not to love Dani whether he's running around the football pitch, screaming his own name, almost throwing a bottle of alcohol into a fire, giving joy for free, or telling everyone he meets that football is life.

Sam Obisanya

Sam Obisanya takes a few episodes to open up to the team as he's been pretty shy as he's out of his element leaving home for the first time and living in England, but once he opens up, he's a bright, happy, and at times hilarious character.

From picking "Wonderwall" as his karaoke song and singing his heart out to getting excitable over paparazzi taking his photo on the red carpet and asking for all of their names, Sam is definitely one of the funnier characters on the show.

Nathan Shelley

Nathan giving a pep talk in the locker room in Ted Lasso

Nathan is another character who took a while to open up to other characters on the show but his relatable nervous energy was a funny trait from the beginning. Nate was a hilarious character throughout the first season like when he awkwardly tried to thank Roy for standing up for him.

Nate has a difficult time at the start of the show as he's obviously been mistreated by the manager before Ted and was bullied by the players on the team, but slowly he becomes a crucial member of the team who finds his home at AFC Richmond and is able to freely joke around with the players without getting as nervous about their reactions.

Jamie Tartt

Jamie Tartt is another character who goes through changes throughout Ted Lasso's first season and there will most likely be more to come in season 2.

Jamie begins the series as an egotistical bully, therefore a lot of the things he does that can be seen as funny are too mean-spirited. However, once he starts opening up and the audience sees past the tough facade, he becomes funnier whether he's accidentally dropping hot soup or getting into a funny but heated argument with Roy.

Rebecca Welton

Rebecca has a similar arc to Jamie as she begins the series as a somewhat antagonist but by the end of the first season she fully and genuinely joins the AFC Richmond team.

Rebecca is a more stoic and serious character on the show and typically plays off of every other character's energetic chaos, particularly Ted and Keeley. Rebecca's a great foil to every other character on the show and she's still a comedic presence who goes along with the fun like joining in on karaoke night or appeasing the treatment room spirits but also balances the chaos with a more grounded nature.

Coach Beard

Coach Beard is a relatively quiet character on the show, but that doesn't mean that he also isn't one of the funniest and a perfect foil to Ted as the two have completely different personalities, yet make a great team.

Beard doesn't speak much on the show, but he certainly says enough with his facial expressions whether he's concerned with Ted making a decision on benching a player or he's too caught up in a chess game that his date decides to leave. Beard also has his moments where he's just as chaotic as the rest from choosing to sing "Bad Romance" on karaoke night to headbanging along to music at the gala.

Keeley Jones

Keeley in the press room

Keeley is an energetic, outgoing, witty, and hilarious presence on the show from her first introduction to her interactions with every character, but particularly with Jamie, Roy, Ted, and Rebecca throughout the show.

Keeley has a bubbly and quirky personality and it's difficult not to laugh along with her whether she's coming up with rhymes for a newspaper headline or discussing the merits of pandas versus lions with Ted and Rebecca or poking fun at Roy.

Roy Kent

Roy begins the series as a tough and aggressive captain of the AFC Richmond team who slowly and somewhat reluctantly starts to open up throughout the series. Although he has a rough exterior, Roy truly cares about those around him and will stand for what is right, like when he stood up to his teammates for bullying Nate.

Roy is easily one of the funniest characters on the show from his angry yet hilarious rants, his banter with Keeley, and being an uncle without a filter to Phoebe. Roy's angry outside battling between his caring and soft inside makes for a great, and hilarious, character.

Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is known for his supportive pep talks and advice on the show, but he's also known for his unending optimism and support, quirky quotes, and physical comedy. Actor Jason Sudeikis' extensive career in improv and comedy has a lot to do with Ted's hilarious charm on the show making him the funniest character and impossible not to love.

Whether he's having a difficult time with fizzy water, discussing the open jar of peanut butter he leaves out on the counter, making niche pop culture references, getting confused by European football, dancing around, or voicing his hatred of tea, Ted is sure to make any viewer laugh.
