Will the Thunder Buddies reunite for Ted 3? While Family Guy eventually became a major success, it struggled during its early run. The show originally ran for three seasons but struggled in the ratings, and was eventually cancelled in 2002. That seemed to be that, but it's robust DVD sales and re-runs viewing figures saw it being resurrected after a few years and its run ever since.

Family Guy's star and creator Seth MacFarlane also became a familiar name in the comedy genre. He co-created and voices the main character in American Dad! and also co-created Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show. He played a supporting role in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, starred in the 2014 western comedy A Million Ways To Die In The West, and currently heads sci-fi sitcom The Orville. He also scored a major hit with Ted, which paired Mark Wahlberg with MacFarlane's crude talking teddy bear. The movie managed to rise above being a one-joke premise to be a genuinely funny comedy with some sweet moments.

Ted went on to gross over $500 million worldwide. With those kinds of numbers, it was only natural for a sequel to happen, with Ted 2 arriving in 2015 and focusing on the title character's battle to be recognized as a person so he can adopt a baby. Ted 2 was another success but is there any hope for a Ted 3?

Seth MacFarlane Is Up For Ted 3

While promoting the sequel, Seth MacFarlane stated more than once that Ted 3 will happen if audiences want more. He later reaffirmed this during a MovieWeb interview in 2019, repeating that he's very open to returning to the series but that " I don't know... It's hard with a sequel past a certain number of years."

Ted 2 Grossed Less Than Half Of The Original

While Ted 2's box-office haul was solid, pulling in over $210 million worldwide, this figure was noticeably down from the performance of the original. This is likely one reason for no sign of movement on a third entry, as it suggests audience interest in the franchise dropped significantly after the first film.

Ted 3 Probably Won't Happen

Despite Seth MacFarlane sounding game for Ted 3, the complete radio silence on another entry being developed means the studio has probably moved on. Given that the two movies earned nearly $800 million between them suggests the prospect isn't totally off the table, but with MacFarlane and Wahlberg busy on other projects, the prospects of Ted 3 aren't looking great.
