When it comes to romantic comedies, there are certain actors who have really relished in the genre, with the likes of Hugh Grant and Anne Hathaway having starred in multiple rom-coms. It's a genre that is tough to get right, with the fine balance between romance and humor not being the easiest to strike, but when done right, they can be the best.

Over time, there have been plenty of actors who've popped up within romantic comedies that people wouldn't necessarily expect to see. Whether it be a cameo role or the lead, there have been actors who a lot of fans have simply forgotten appeared in a romantic comedy.

Valentine's Day is a terrific romantic comedy with lots of different romantic storylines all taking place at the same time. Some are given more focus than others, but one of the storylines features Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift, someone people certainly do not associate with the movie industry.

She's an incredible singer, and she has had a brilliant career, but she's also been in the movie industry as well. While she might be better known for singing, Taylor Swift certainly does a good job throughout the movie.

When people think of Josh Gad, they typically recall his comedic movies or his role as Olaf in the Frozen franchise. He has a huge personality and an iconic voice, and his charisma always being a lot of fun, but he also starred in romantic comedy Love And Other Drugs

He played the brother of Jake Gyllenhaal's character Jamie. While Gyllenhaal's character is technically a millionaire, he deals with a breakup with his partner and finds himself on Jamie's sofa throughout the movie.

Jimmy Fallon is someone with fantastic comedic timing, something he has showcased on his own talk show, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, but that is what people typically associate him with. However, he did get to take on the lead role of Ben in the movie Fever Pitch.

He starred alongside Drew Barrymore, who is someone that has been in plenty of rom-coms throughout her career. She plays Lindsay, who ends up falling in love with Ben. However, the stumbling block in this relationship is actually Ben's love for the Red Sox.

Ellen DeGeneres (Mr. Wrong)

Much like Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres is best known for hosting her own show where she gets to showcase her comedic abilities. However, she has been in some movies, with Mr. Wrong actually being her first role in the movie world.

The movie was heavily panned by critics. However, Ellen played well in this genre, with her comedic timing being one of the few redeeming qualities in the film.

Rowan Atkinson (Love Actually)

Love Actually is a brilliant fusion of a romantic comedy and a Christmas movie, with one of the greatest ensemble casts of all time. The movie stars some huge actors, and someone who pops up is Rowan Atkinson, who only takes a small cameo role.

He works at a department store and provides one of the funniest scenes in the entire movie. When Alan Rickman's character is trying to quickly buy jewelry for the woman he's flirting with in the office, Atkinson makes the exchange painfully, hilariously slow.

Ewan McGregor (Down With Love)

Ewan McGregor is a terrific actor, and one that most people don't associate with romantic comedy despite the fact that he takes on the lead role in Down With Love.

Set in the 1960s, this movie is quite different from the traditional rom-com, with this movie focusing on the world of writing. Zellweger plays an author, while McGregor's character is a journalist who is a notorious flirt, but he eventually finds himself falling deeply in love.

Ralph Fiennes (Maid In Manhattan)

Ralph Fiennes is a terrific actor, but he's often known for taking on dramatic roles. Whether fans know him as Lord Voldermort or Francis Dolarhyde in Red Dragon, he has also shown a different side of his personality and acting abilities in the rom-com Maid In Manhattan. 

In this movie, Fiennes plays Chris Marshall, the male lead of the movie. He falls in love with Marisa Ventura, who is portrayed by Jennifer Lopez. She is someone that Chris mistakes for being wealthy when he first meets her, yet she is actually the hotel maid.

Matthew Perry (Serving Sara)

When people think about Matthew Perry, they instantly go to his role as Chandler Bing in Friends. It's a role that proved he would be a great fit in the romantic comedy genre, and he got the chance to prove that in the movie Serving Sara, where he played Joe Taylor.

His job was to serve Sara Moore with her divorce papers, but in the end, he agrees to take money from her to serve her husband instead. The two of them work together to track down the husband, finding a connection at the same time.

Whether fans think about him as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, or for his work in Jurassic World, Chris Pratt is typically someone people associate with major Hollywood blockbusters. However, with his fantastic comic timing, he certainly slotted into the world of a romantic comedy nicely.

Bride Wars saw him star alongside Anne Hathaway (who has been in multiple rom-coms) who plays a character who's in a race against her childhood best friend to get married first, with the two of them sabotaging each other at every possible moment.

Hugh Jackman (Kate And Leopold)

Much like Chris Pratt, Hugh Jackman is typically known for his roles in action movies, most famously as Wolverine. However, he has dipped his toes in the romantic comedy world as well, being the leading man Kate And Leopold, where he takes on the role of Leopold.

The movie has a fun twist, as Leopold is actually from the 1800s, but ends up in the modern-day due to time-traveling shenanigans. It's fun seeing Leopold navigate the modern world, using his old-fashioned ideas of romance to impress Kate when they meet.
