During Fortnite's Primal sixth season, players now share the map with different Wildlife, from Chickens to Wolves. Many of these wild animals can be aggressive and may try to attack the player. Wolves in particular have become something of a threat to Fortnite fans. In the Fortnite v16.10 update that launched at the start of the week, developer Epic Games introduced a new wild creature to the map: Raptors. These dinosaurs are stronger than Wolves, hunt in pairs rather than packs, and can scream to alert other nearby dinosaurs to a player's presence. They can also be tamed like other animals in Fortnite Season 6, which will allow them to fight beside a player for the duration of a match.

Fortnite's Raptors can be dangerous for players to tame. Typically, it is easiest to tame one of these creatures at a time, but this often leaves its partner open to attack the player. Players will need to do some preparation before they can assemble a small army of these creatures to join them in combat. Raptors also have several potential spawn locations that can change between matches, so players will also need to know where to go to have the best chance of finding a few. Here's how to find and tame Raptors in Fortnite Season 6.

How to Find Raptors in Fortnite Season 6

What Fortnite Season 6 Map Changes Are Most Important

Raptors in Fortnite Season 6 typically spawn near the large dinosaur eggs found around the island. So far, fans have discovered good Raptor spawn points around Stealthy Stronghold, outside Craggy Cliffs, on the south side of The Spire, south of Misty Meadows, and around Retail Row. Some fans have also reported seeing them around Boney Burbs, a new location for Season 6.

Typically, Raptors spawn and travel in pairs. Though players will likely only encounter two at a time, they are generally stronger than Wolves. They also have the ability to summon other nearby Raptors with a screech, and this can quickly cause problems for a player or squad. Players are encouraged to give them a wide berth and only approach when they have the best weapons loadout and equipment to possibly take a few on.

How to Tame Raptors in Fortnite Season 6

A player faces a raptor from Fortnite Season 6

Taming Raptors in Fortnite works the same way as taming Wolves, though players do need to be careful when approaching them. Players should consider crafting the Hunter's Cloak, which, when equipped, allows a player to remain undetected by Wildlife around the Fortnite map for a short time.

Players will need to find and kill other wildlife for Meat before they try to tame a Raptor. The type of Meat used does not matter; Raptors will eat Wolf, Chicken, or Boar. Once players spot a Raptor, they should don the Hunter's Cloak to get close, then toss the Meat to the Raptor.

As the Raptor bends down to start eating, the player can walk up to it and press and hold their Interact button to tame it. This may take a few seconds to complete. Additionally, taming one Raptor will not tame its partner, and players will need to be careful not to get attacked by the second one in the pair.

Raptor taming in Fortnite can be repeated as many times as a player wants with as many Raptors as they find, allowing them to create a small dinosaur army to help them to a Victory Royale. With this week only marking the third week in Season 6, this addition launched very quickly, and it is possible Epic may add more animals and dinosaurs as the season progresses.
