Tainted Grail: Conquest has different types of currencies that are obtained and used for different types of upgrades. The game is based on a table-top RPG game with non-traditional combat and a unique currency system. There are NPCs corresponding to each currency that sell upgrades. Players will have to unlock currencies before they can be obtained and used.

Tainted Grail: Conquest, like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, features a settlement building. As players fight and rebuild their village, they will come across difficult enemies, NPCs to recruit, and resources to collect. Bringing in new villagers will make different types of currencies become available. NPCs will require a specific currency for upgrades purchases.

Players will have NPCs in their village that act as vendors, and each takes a different type of currency. Once unlocked, players will be able to purchase unique upgrades. For example, the Blacksmith will sell special cards or let players unlock the Transmute ability in exchange for Runestone Dust. There are various ways to earn currency, like combat, non-hostile encounters, or by meeting certain criteria at the end of a run.

Every Currency in Tainted Grail: Conquest

Tainted Grail Conquest Combat with multiple enemies

There are eight types of currency for players to unlock and use in Tainted Grail: Conquest. Wealth is the only type that players start out with, and players can unlock each other type by recruiting new residents with different currencies to their village. Each currency is earned and used differently. Tainted Grail: Conquest currencies are as follows:

  • Wealth: Wealth doesn't need to be unlocked. Items that are bought with wealth only last for the current run, and wealth can be obtained through combat or encounters.
  • Tallow: Earned by walking through the Wyrdness with a Wyrdcandle lit, Tallow is used to buy upgrades at the Candlemaker.
  • Runestone Dust: Runestone Dust is used at the Blacksmith, and players will get some of this currency each time they merge runestones.
  • Golden Tokens: Players receive 1 Golden Token for every 100 Wealth they have at the end of each run. Golden Tokens are used at the Scientist.
  • Blood: Blood will be earned by killing enemies and can be used for upgrades at the Seamstress.
  • Wyrdstone: This currency is obtained through combat and encounters, and players will also receive 100 Wyrdstone for each duplicate unlockable received at the end of a run. Wyrdstone is used at the NPC, A Lost Soul.
  • Card Shreds: During the level-up process, if players don't take cards, they will turn into Card Shreds. These can be used for upgrades at the Master-At-Arms.
  • Journal Pages: Currently, this type of currency is not used. It is marked TBD in the game.

There is a myriad of purchases to use currencies on, ranging from skills and health upgrades to items or curse removal. Players will need to have the right type of currency for each vendor. Tainted Grail: Conquest is an action roguelike that features eight types of currency, which can be spent at village vendors after they're unlocked.
