See Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi make his pitch for a Vision & Scarlet Witch romantic comedy. Marvel Studios is always looking for new ways to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They aim to keep the genre fresh by bringing other genres of film into the typical superhero movie. They've done it with political thrillers, heist movies, space operas, and more. One that they haven't yet touched is rom-coms, but that is potentially what Ant-Man and The Wasp will be.
When it comes to finding more genres to adapt, they have westerns, horror, and others left to adapt. They most recently did a space road trip in Ragnarok, but the most accurate description may be as a straight up comedy. While Waititi has expressed an interest in doing a sequel to Ragnarok, he's also pitching a romantic comedy starring Vision and Scarlet Witch.

ET spoke to Waititi as part of the press tour for Thor: Ragnarok's upcoming home release. As part of the conversation, he was asked what Marvel project he'd want to do if Thor was off the table. In typical Waititi fashion, the director pitched a mockumentary starring Vision initially, before being swayed into making it a rom-com with Scarlet Witch. You can watch the entire pitch below:
While this is likely nothing more than an attempt to have fun by Waititi, the idea of him directing either of these pitches sounds quite appealing. He's already shown his mastery of mockumentaries with What We Do In The Shadows, so the potential of Paul Bettany playing Vision in that tone could be quite fun. On top of that, a romantic comedy featuring him and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch could be just as great. The relationship between Thor and Valkyrie in Ragnarok was a highlight, but Vision and Scarlet Witch have already expressed their feelings.
As entertaining as either of these options would be, there may not be a chance for him to ever see either situation play out. Many predict Vision doesn't have much time left and could be one of the major casualties in either Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. Waititi should be back in the MCU eventually, regardless of how likely these latest pitches are to happen. But, between this latest pitch and his comedic pitch for Black Widow, it's clear that Waititi is only interested in having fun with these characters, no matter which ones he would be able to direct.
