Velvet Buzzsaw is a satirical black comedy from director and writer Dan Gilroy. The film centers on Morf Vandewalt, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, a Miami art critic who becomes involved with a museum haunted by the spirit of Vetril Dease, an artist whose paintings were stolen after he passed away in his apartment.

Summary

After a series of paintings by an unknown artist are discovered, a supernatural force enacts revenge on those who have allowed their greed to get in the way of art. The film made headway in June 2017, when it was announced Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo had been cast. After the supporting cast rounded into shape at various points in 2018, production began in March of that year. Velvet Buzzsaw held its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was released on Netflix in February 2019.
