Summary

The Mummy is a reboot of Universal's famous monster franchise. It was originally created back in 1932 as part of the studio's monster film series. It gained popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a trilogy starring Brendan Fraser, which also spawned the Scorpion King spinoff series. Universal is positioning this new version with Tom Cruise as the first installment of a potential shared universe and have several other reboots for monster characters planned, including Frankenstein, Dracula, the Invisible Man, and others.
