Synopsis

A mob hitman recalls his possible involvement with the slaying of Jimmy Hoffa.

The Irishman was in development for a number of years. It was originally set up at Paramount, but the studio later passed on the project due to budget concerns. Martin Scorsese is using digital de-aging technology to make his cast appear younger, which increased costs substantially. Netflix scooped in to acquire the rights, and The Irishman made its way through production.

The Irishman will premiere at the 2017 New York Film Festival before its November release. It will open in a limited theatrical release November 1.
