Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine -- distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.
Spider-Man's first appearance was in Amazing Fantasy #16 in August 1962 and the web head is now arguably Marvel's most popular character. Originally created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Spider-Man has several comics titles of his own, including The Amazing Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Ultimate Spider-Man. Your Friendly Neighborhood has been featured in several forms of media such as video games and an animated television show. Spider-Man's first live-action film was released in 2002 and launched a trilogy that ended in 2007. Sony rebooted the property in 2012 and had plans for an Amazing Spider-Man shared universe, but poor reception to the 2014 sequel killed the franchise. Sony then struck a deal with Marvel Studios and Tom Holland portrayed the character in a small role for Captain America: Civil War.
Spider-Man will also be in Avengers: Infinity War. A Homecoming sequel is eyeing a July 2019 release date.
